I am on Day 4 of Phase 3 ... and to be honest I havenīt felt well at all today or yesterday. I seemed to have no problems as I went through most of Phase two and even the last 72 hours of VLCD (weaning off my drops) , but now even though I am eating more calories I feel like total crap (really weak, sensations like I am going to black out) for the first time since VLCD #1 ... Is this common? Do I somehow have my calories wrong? My current weight is 150 and I am managing not to fluctuate very much, I am trying to eat 1700 calories a day, but limiting myself to two fruit servings so as not to go overboard on carbs. Today I added a second egg to my breakfast and a wedge of cheese, I ate about 150 grms of tuna with a wedge of cream cheese and celery sticks for lunch, havenīt decided on dinner yet, but I may try cottage cheese or chicken with some veggie. My two fruit servings today have been #1: 2 smallish pickly pear cactus fruits #2: one small pear. Earlier today I thought I was going to pass out while standing at the white board teaching my students. I tried an afternoon cup of coffee with stevia (I also had one at breakfast), but I am not sure that it made any difference. Something must be off. I appreciate any ideas on how I should adjust. Iīm not even exercising (relaxed walking for one to three hours) as I did during P2 without the slightest bit of discomfort.

Check your blood pressure and blood sugar. My blood pressure has gone two low on more than one occasion and I have fainted. Also take some electrolites but best to check it out with a doctor just to be sure.

Lose the fruit, and increase your protein. Start going for the nutritionally dense veggies (celery uses more calories then it has!). Go for the darker greens (lettuce NOT ICEBURG, broccoli, asparagus, greens). You also might be sensitive to dairy, cut it out for a couple of days, then add it back in SLOWLY, like a serving of cheese, then wait a day, if you feel all right, then add a bit more (like the cream cheese).

I hope P3 starts going better! Good luck!

I had a problem with my blood pressure. It sounded very similar to what you have described. The doc took me of all my blood pressure meds. Before she did that, I sure felt terrible. Do you have a blood pressure monitor?... You can get one for $50ish at Walmart or a pharmacy. They are good to have...

I did end up at the doctorīs office. Turns out a stomach virus was conspiring to throw me for a four day loop-de-loop with the unintended result to lose (even if only briefly) 5 more pounds. Seems to be over now and I am out of the bathroom and going back to Phase 3 eating (heck, eating and drinking period!) slowly but surely. Thanks for the tip on the electrolytes, I usually steer away from that stuff in the States because the few I have tried tasted so artificial and nasty, but here in Mexico there are several natural-tasting preparations that I can tolerate.

Thanks for the tip. My blood pressure has always run on the low side although not to the point Iīve ever had medications (so far) . I think you are right ... besides the stomach virus that appears to have gotten ahold of me, I did feel like my blood pressure was really down as early as Day Two of Phase Three, but I didnīt think to go have it checked. Iīm going to pick up a monitor like you suggest - that could come in handy in general.

Thanks for the tips. Iīm still a bit baffled about what a good Phase 3 eating plan should look like - I see a lot of variety in what others put together as a menu --- some say up to 40% calories from fat, but I wonīt be close to that for a few more days I am sure, right now the only thing that looks good is plain old chicken soup but hold the crackers please! (Phase 2 was so much easier to plan for, LOL)
