    Anxiety & HCG

Can HCG make anxiety worse? I ended up in the ER today with a major anxiety attack today thinking I was going to die. I can't live like this. All 5 days have been this way for me. ER dr. said it can cause anxiety but with most drugs side effects go away in a week. Is that true? Does anyone else have anxiety? Like panic attacks not nervousness.

Nix this. . . She's got 2 threads going and needs and expert. Well I imagine if you are prone to anxiety that starting a new diet by itself could certainly increase the likely hood of an anxiety attack. How are you getting your hcg? Are you using drops?

edit. ok nm I see you have 2 threads going and the more pertinent info is on the other thread. makes it hard to keep up.

Sorry yes I posted in 2 boards hoping to get a reply before morning when I am due to take my dose LOL. I take the 500 iu trochees. I am still having anxiety but with xanax on board it's easier. I have't had panic attacks in a long time until starting this diet. And they are BAD.

I've only heard people who are prone to anxiety say it's actually BETTER on hcg.

My anxiety and depression have gotten much worse since starting VLCD, but I know exactly, precisely why. For me, it's Candida infection die-off. This diet starves Candida, which is part of the reason I'm on it. It's not the actual hCG affecting my mood; in fact, it might be mitigating the damage.

I have no idea if that could possibly be the case with you, but you might bring it up with an open-minded doctor.

Tardis..... I think I read somewhere that carbs effect seratonin levels too... I think it was starchy carbs..... so no carbs might affect both anxiety and depression... I wonder...

That's absolutely true. Cutting out starches can definitely mess with seratonin levels, which is why sometimes people on Atkins are super grouchy. But for me, I know how Candida die-offs feel, and that's definitely what's doing it. But the seratonin thing might not be helping matters.

I have been on low to no carb on the 17 day diet now for 4 months so the food choices of this diet haven't been a big change for me> I have lost 40 lbs since September.

Tardis, was your anxiety worse the first week? The ER doc told me most side effects get better after the first week is that true with HCG? If I stick it out a few more days maybe it will be over?

I felt pretty okay the first week, and the second and third were worse for me because more pathogens were dying, but we could have very different situations. I definitely hope yours is finished with shortly!
