Is anyone doing Intermittent Fasting following HCG?

it seems similar to the steak day, but more routine, like 1-2 days a week, spread out as a way to create a calorie deficit. I read Eat Lose Eat, but maybe there is more information out there?

I am pretty close to my goal, less than 15 pounds for my dream goal of 125 and 5 pounds from my, I'd be happy with my weight goal at 135.

    My stats-- 5'4 42 years old and 3 children. I am in R 4 P2

    Thanks!

I don't know if you've heard of The Maker's Diet by Jordan Rubin but he sets aside one day a week for fasting breakfast and lunch and then eats salmon and veggies for dinner. My mom did the diet years ago and loved it. She will still do the fasting 1 day a week with the salmon. Kind of like our steak day. He says it gives the body a chance to rest. I haven't tried it personally. But there are definitely days when I'm in maintenance that food just doesn't sound good (because I ate too much the day before) and I will either eat very light or nothing at all by choice. But I never plan my week in advance to do it.

Yup!!! I do it, and I LOVE it! I fast 24 hours, twice per week. I had gone through 2 rounds of HCG (which I am soooo grateful for) and then chose "Eat Stop Eat" IF'ing lifestyle to maintain my LIW of 118. It's been working flawlessly for me! LOVE IT! I actually look forward to my weekly fasts. Turns out they are my most productive days! I actually have energy to homeschool my three kids (giggling). And when mommy is happy....well, you know.

    Good luck!

    Erin

I haven't yet but plan on doing this. I"m still on Phase two so no fasting for me. I probably will not be at my goal weight but close. What I plan on doing is going on a "Paleo" type of way of eating. Then doing a fast probably once a week. I will skip breakfast and lunch then eat a normal dinner. Once I get off I don't want to gain wait again. I think its a good way to maintain your weight.

Thank You for asking this question I just finished reading eat stop eat and am very intrigued by the concept. I'm gonna try it for a few months just to see how it works for me.

I'm intrigued by this now too. I'm starting phase 3 next week. Did you do p3 or go right to this type of fasting? I'm going to buy the book on my Kindle tonight and read it.

    Hi

I am in ph 3 (kind of bumpy so far with my travel schedule and eating too much protein) and have tried IF on 2 separate occasions, and it really felt about the same as Ph 2 for me. A little hungry, but not unbearable. I can see combining this with a Paleo/South Beach approach.

How long is the eat stop eat book? Somehow I found a PDF of it on the internet (free), but not sure if it is complete. My book seems to be about 80 pages.

I did IFing for 2-3 years. It was great for my lifestyle. However, it seems to have totally screwed up my thyroid and adrenals, and I have had to have intensive thyroid and prednisone treatment to get back in sync. I also lost sense of when I was full or not and suddenly started bingeing and carbo addicted. I even wonder if it affected my hypothalamus and "set" button. I really loved it when I was on it and never hungry, but, looking back, I don't think it was good for me.

As for doing IFing after P2. This is my first round, so I'm sure not an expert, but I worked hard at getting off the weight I gained after IFing, and I don't want to screw it up. I'm really eager for the results of the "reset" and will stick to protocol instead of looking for alternatives. Good luck on your quest, and hope you do what works for you.

I go about 17hrs per day (7 PM to 12 noon the next day) without food now and it's entirely manageable. I eat lunch (really, breakfast) around 12:30PM, no snacking, then dinner at roughly 6:30 PM.

Dr. Briffa did IF and posted on his blog:

There is some thought that intermittent fasting (IF) ‘forces’ the body to dig into its fuel stores (including fat). IF can improve functioning of the hormone insulin. There’s a good chance levels of this hormone are lower than before. Insulin encourages fat storage. Put another way, lower insulin means for efficient release of fat, which can be used to fuel the body.
The Fast-5 method goes for a 19 hour window:

Eat within five consecutive hours. That’s it—that's the basic summary: eat within five consecutive hours. “Eat” means consume calories according to your appetite. It does not mean eat constantly for five hours, nor does it mean eat as much as you can. During the five consecutive hours (the “eating window”), eat as much as you’re hungry for, and eat what you want to eat. Consuming liquids with calorie content counts as eating, so only calorie-free beverages are permitted during the fasting period - no juice, protein shakes, etc. As long as you keep at least a nineteen-hour fast daily and eat within five or fewer consecutive hours, you’re within the guidelines of the Fast-5 program. Any window of five consecutive hours can be used.

    Intermittent fasting question

Can you send me the website address where you got the e book. I am very interested in trying the IFasting. I am up 8 pounds from my LDW and want to get back down, w/o doing another round. I'm done with doing HCG. I loved it and it worked to get the weight off, now I just want to keep it off. The Leptin did not appeal to me as I don't like eating that much meat
