Constipation -- what are your remedies?

I've struggled with this pretty much my whole life. Its been really bad during the Hcg Diet. The scale goes up sooo quickly when I'm constipated -- poo weighs a lot! I've had to do a few water enemas during P2 to get things going. Now, in P3...things are not any better. I tried the SMOOTH MOVE TEA last night. Wow. Not sure who put the "smooth" in the title -- smooth it was not -- but MOVE was accurate. I MOVED all night and was down 1.5-2.0 lbs!

So...what are your remedies for constipation (if its a problem for you)??
Thanks so much...and sorry to have to 'go there'. :-[

    Best regards,
    Leslie

i also use the MOM ( Milk of Magnesia), but only take half the dose at a time, otherwise i would be "going" all the time. also, drinking more and more water helps, Fiber too. good luck.

I also have major issues with constipation before starting the HCG diet however I was able to have a BM everyday! I was shocked! What I did was take 2-3 stool softeners per day as well as 400mg-600mg of the magnesium citrate pills per day. That has seemed to really help me from getting backed up. Actually there was one day where I didn't poo and I was so scared that I would be extremely constipated that I took 2 vegetable based laxatives (senea or seneca something like that) and it was the worst thing I have ever done. I had the worst stomach cramps and I didn't even poo more than I normally would have even though I hadn't gone in 2 days.

Also I drink anywhere from 1 gallon to 1.5 gallons of water per day which also keeps me nice and regular. If you aren't drinking your water, definitely try and add that in.

I was very nervous about my body becoming dependent on laxatives so I refuse to take another one of those.

    Hi,

Ever since I had lower back surgery 2 years ago, I've had bad constipation. I've tried everything: fiber, pills, physllim husk (sp?), senna teas, etc. I found a product on amazon.com, by searching constipation remedies. It's called "super cleanse" by natures secret. It was fairly inexpensive too and has great customer reviews. I take 3 pills in the am and 3 at bedtime. And it always produces for me.

I have always had problems with this as well. Has been a huge source of anxiety for me! A friend and I think it's a 'girl thing.' Who knows. I've used both the Nature's Secret Detox Support (there's two different bottles in the system), following the directions on the labels. Also, magnesium citrate is a miracle for me. It helps you sleep too! Water is also key. Try drinking a lot of water in the morning and then relax. I have to say, I'll spend about 15 minutes in the morning preparing with the water, relaxing, etc. You could try reading the newspaper (online?). Being in a rush in the morning is not helpful. I also suffer from toilet anxiety around people and will have a horrific time! Not sure if that's you or not. Try the Magnesium Citrate first if no go, get the Nature's Secret stuff. Water Water Water! You can do it!

I think the more I stress about pooing the more Constipated I get! On my former "get fatter" way of eating I would poo 2-3 times a day. 1st round HCG I had days were I did not poo..and no loss. I did Smooth Move tea (had to do it at 4pm so I could get the cramps and toilet running while not at work). Round 2 I had no poo problems..who knows what happened there? I am on R3 now and I have no idea what will happen...I am going to get some of that Magnesium Citrate for sure..and try chocolate smooth move this time.

I have nerve damage and some wasting, which affects the working of my bowel. I take Senna tabs every day, and continued them through my first round, although I noticed I didn't need to take 2 every single day like I usually do. Sometimes I did have to take 3.

Fresca got me going in p3!! Weird I know..after that I added dried Prunes and Apricots to ensure I moved daily and I stabilized fine.
