Before HCG I was rarely constipated. Daily I ate yogurt with ground Flax seed and walnuts. Even if I was eating overly processed, sugary foods the rest of the day.

Since starting HCG(on day 13 1st rd ph 2) I sometimes go 4 days without moving. Boy can I feel it. When I do go it's with great effort which is not good for my recent bladder suspension and pelvic prolapse repair. I've decided that I am going to use "Dieter's Tea" every couple of days if I don't become regular. Considering the amount of vegetabels that I'm now ingesting I'm still rather surprised that constipation is a problem.

I know people hate to hear this but WATER, WATER, Water... one important thing.. Some people drink a gallon of water daily and that is awesome. That should be a goal. BUT if you really do not drink a lot of water do not just jump right in and drink 1.5 gallons of water. You're cells are not used to that much and it can possibly put your body into a fluid overload. Work your way up to that. If you do already drink a lot of water then stool softeners would be the next thing while on the diet. When you are not on the diet, Activia really works great. My mom stayed constipated 20 years. She started eating an activia everyday and has not had any more problems. Another crazy thing to help in constipation is a toileting schedule. It may take you're body a little while to get used to it but when it does, you're life will become much easier.

    Hi Leslie,

Not a particular problem but I've found that senna teas give me the shakes and high heart rate. I have a Chinese mallow-only tea on hand which works within 6 hours and isn't nearly as seemingly harsh. I got mine from the local health food store. It's cheap enough to toss out if it doesn't work for you.

I've found that a tablespoon of Braggs apple cider vinegar in a glass of cold water (about 12 ounces) will do the trick. On occasion I've had to drink 2 glasses about an hour apart, but never more than that.

I've had this problem since high school (and I'm 53 now) - you can believe me . . . I've tried EVERYTHING and because I have had bladder issues since childhood (kinda had to piece one together for me when I was 4 years old) I have ALWAYS made sure I took in well over 80 oz. of water every day (or I'd end up with a bladder infection). So lack of water has never been my problem.

The thing that works the VERY best for me (well for now) is taking a probiotic twice a day - once right after breakfast; once right after dinner. With about 12 oz. of water. Within an hour or 2, get outta my way. No cramping, no discomfort - just sweet relief!! Have your reading material handy.

This is a great source of information that you may find interesting. I sure did! Hope this helps!

So I'm having issues in this arena since I started the diet. I know water is an issue so I'm going to try my best to increase intake. Smooth Move works for me most of the time so I'll have to drink some more tonight. On this diet I've gone as long as......wait for it.......a week and a half. My mother had a fit when I told her! Anyway, I have a bottle of pro-biotics staring me in the face that I got from GNC last week but the lady that sold it to me kind of made me nervous about it which is why I've stuck to the Smooth Move. Can you tell me a little about it? She said I might feel sick for a couple of days at first. Is that common?

    Moving, moving, moving.......

So, I am on VLCD 20. This week I have begun to have irregular BMs. I mean, it is usually every day. But, there have been a couple days with nothing. And it is becoming more frequent.

So, last night I drank 1/4 bottle of liquid mag citrate. Nothing. This morning, I drank 2 tsp of epson salts in 16 ozs of water with the juice of one lemon. Well, it worked!! Finally! I should say it is working. I will be staying close to the bathroom today.

Edited to say....I will be adding mag citrate tablets to my diet once on P3 and maybe probiotics too.

I never had a problem with it.. I do not have a gallbladder either.. maybe thats why? One time it hurt a little to go but I think that was because I sat on my tush for a long time on 3 days straight and maybe slacked off on m water intake..
I noticed something else now too.. the smell of it.. it doesnt peel wallpaper anymore.. its not a rose smell yet but not so .. foul anymore.. lol..
    seriously.. anyone else notice that?
