In the original Pounds and Inches, Simeons states that the explanation given for stalls goes like this:

    - Fat weighs less than water. (this is true -- water weighs 8 pounds per gallon)
    - While the body breaks down fat from cells, some cellular structure is still left behind and as the fat goes, water comes in to fill the space.
    - Before the cellular structure is broken down and reprocessed by the body, it has water hanging around in it.

IE: the space that was once filled by fat (lighter) is now filled by water (heavier) and THAT is why we sometimes see stalls but loose inches.

Dr. S says that this is a simplified explanation for a complicated process, but if you think about it, it does make sense. Water is heavy stuff, and I'm sure all the ladies out there can attest to feeling that weight gain around TOM. It's water!

I am on R2,P2, day 13, and I don't understand going into a stall so early this is day 9. I know we have them, I had a 7 day stall on R1 in my second week also. I gained 5 lbs loading, and in my first week of R2 VLCD lost 7 lbs (5 load plus 2), then nothing, no more. Looking back, I am eating more chili this time instead of grilled beef and lettuce. My other meal is always baked chicken and cabbage. Do you think the chili is doing it? I used 96/4 beef, fire roasted diced tomatoes, seasoning (no sugar) and figured my servings at 1 cup. I had this last round and no problems. I have come to LOVE it, so have eaten much more of it this round than last. Could the tomatoes be doing it for some reason this time? I made up my mind yesterday that I know there are stalls, and I need to just hang on and keep doing what I'm doing, it worked before. I had a horrible problem with hunger last week - Beth suggested changing my dose from 4 pellets to 5, and thank you, Beth, it DID help. Thanks for any help.

The chili stalls a lot of people. There is something about beef and tomatoes. I'd cut it out and see how you do.

While I understand stalls happpen, and I need the reminder to be calm about them, WHY would one hit me on day 4? I followed protocol to a T. grumble grumble grumble.
    Round 1 = 20 lbs loss
P3 = living on the 2 lbs up line.

Round 2 planned for mid May.

You need to check/triple check your seasonings, including salt, and all of your lotions and such. My first 3 rounds I had low losses my first week so don't fret. Also days here and there will no loss isn't really a stall. Hopefully you'll have a big drop tomorrow.

How much water are you drinking? enough or too much?
