I have not seen a safe one yet. All the Atkins bars I have seen have starch.

On phase 3 you can have just about as many atkins bars as you want. Well, within reason, of course. The main sweetener in the Atkins bars is a sugar alcohol (which is, really, neither a sugar nor an alcohol). I never ate them for a meal but has some bars or shakes handy for a snack. Maybe a shake for my ride into work and a bar for my ride home. In my humble opinion, they are the best all around bar for calories without the carbs. I never gained outside of my LDW +2 lb window with these bars.

That being said, they ain't cheap!

Venture, you are a guy. They often cheat without ill effect. LOL We women can't cheat like you can with impunity. You must read the ingredients of everything you put in your mouth. If it's highly processed like Atkins bars, it's generally got bad stuff in it.

I can say that I had an Atkins bar almost every day of p3 and p4 until I started round 2 and it did not affect my weight or stabilization. In fact, I stabilized almost 7 pounds BELOW my last drops weight. The kinds I did well with were the ones with the lowest amount of sugar alcohols and the ones without peanuts. My favorite was the brownie caramel one or the chocolate decadence one. Make sure you don't get the Endulge ones, only the Advantage ones. They are processed and we probably shouldn't have them, but last round they worked for me. It is something you are going to have to make the decision on trying. If you want to have a chocolatey snack, I know some people have made their own protein bars using protein powder. Maybe you could try that if you want to avoid all the processed ingredients?

What's the difference between the Endulge and the Advantage ones?

Oh Lord! I bought a box of Endulge cookies and a box of Advantage bars yesterday and ate one of each w/out even checking the box. I read this morning and I can't even pronounce HALF of the crap in either.

No big issues with them so far on the scale today, but we'll see what happens tomorrow. As a pre-emptory strike, I'm going to have an HP day.
