If today is your first day of p3 how do you know if you are gaining already?
hi all!
today was my first day of r2p3. last p3, i stabilized really well at 1.4lbs under my LDW and followed protocol as set out by dr. s but then christmas and p4 happened and i put on a couple of pounds so i decided to do another round.
this round, i went rogue and included broccoli, cauliflower and tuna as well as vitamin c tablets sweetened with sucralose and had even better losses than i did on my first round - i lost 11.2 lbs in 22 days and my LDW was 104.
today i added in solid block coconut which is a rock hard lump of the coconut oil and flesh combined which you can heat and use to cook. i have had about 10g of this, 250g tuna, 300g broccoli, 180g onion and for 140g salmon steaks (including eating the skin) but i am concerned that the coconut oil has made me gain already. has anyone else ever experienced gain/sensitivity to coconut/coconut oil? everyone here seems to have so much success with it but i think i have had the opposite effect![]()
coconut is the only different thing i have tried compared with my first p3 so i dont think any of the other things would be causing the gain.
have i added too many things at once or my first day? last time, i spent so long adding things one by one that by the end of p3 i was still only at 1400 calories maximum on most days. however this time around i am SO UNBELIEVABLY HUNGRY ALL THE TIME even when i just ate, and i dont understand why??? i managed 800 calories today but am concerned that its too much of a jump from p2???
i might also be retaining water because of my cycle...but thats a difficult thing to say because its very irregular.
any advice greatly appreciated!

I weigh myself several times throughout the day do I know roughly how much I weigh at various points, taking into consideration the weight of food and drink that I have consumed.
Also my concern stems from the fact that My ldw was 104.0 three days ago then in the 72
Hours of vlcd without drops I went to 103.6 to 104.0 to 104.8 which was my weight first thing before eating and drinking.

update - yup ,this morning i'm 106.2 which puts me 0.2 over LDW (and the highest weight since Feb 1st) as I kinda predicted cos i know that i normally drop about 2lb between going to bed and getting up the following morning...
high protein day (as i only eat fish and eggs, no meat)? or not worry and today avoid coconut and see what happens? no 'output' this morning either so that may be a factor?

i was going with the same theory. have avoided the CO, and for breakfast had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. peeing like made today already which is a good sign me thinks!
also, should i avoid veggies as well today and just stick with eating fish? i was thinking of tuna for lunch and trout for dinner but curious as to whether to eat my veggies too if i'm avoiding carbs? was plnning on onions and broccoli which would give me a calorie total for today of 1050 but if i skip them then i will only be eating about 800 calories again? is this too low? even though i wil have 125g protein based on current menu.
another problem is that i am waking up in the night STARVING hungry just a couple of hours after going to sleep and then can't get back to sleep cos i want food!
also, i'm veggie but I am craving red meat like mad and don't know why. i do have iron deficiency anaemia, but have never taken supplements for it and have never had this craving problem before and it's really weird :/

Sorry that your a vegetablarian :-) but yeah I wouldn't have any vegies today. Lean and Clean today, lots of H20. I don't count calories, just eat till satisfied NOT full by then you have already eaten too much. If your hungry so soon after going to bed try snacking on maybe a HB egg or two. You should be taking in 10-11 times your weight for calories by next week. I typically don't calorie count but if you are this is a good way to keep track. Good luck!!

Today I ended up at 950cals with approx. 130g of protein, 25g carbs (60g of broccoli with dinner - I needed me something green!!!) and 35g of fats. Peeing like crazy all day so hope this is a sign I'm releasing water. However, ate high fat, high protein dinner at 8pm and just woke up from deep sleep at midnight and
my stomach is growling for food! This is so uncharacteristic for me; my stomach NEVER growls for being this hungry!
I won't lie, I'm pretty addicted to calorie counting but I hate it and want to stop eventually. However, because of a history of excessive dieting I think I need to keep counting to make sure
I'm actually eating enough...still working on that but it's very difficult to start eating normal amounts when you've been living off next to nothing for 7 years (a third of my life spent starving myself!)

only weigh yourself in the morning. It doesn't count later in the day. Check your weight on d2 and that will tell you if you gained. Your body is not a machine and won't do the same exact thing every day-so just do morning and save yourself some worry
ETA-I saw your above post. You are only .2 above your LDW. No need to do a steak day. My last P3 i was 2# under my LDW the first 1.5 weeks then i went to 1# over LDW and stabilized there. Only do a steak day if you are 2 or MORE over LDW![]()

Thanks for the advice, Jen! I didn't think a full-on steak day was necessary since it was only 0.2 over like you said and a) no 'output' since Thursday and b) possibility of TOM coming up in a day or two. I am glad that you have given me the same advice here so thank you!
Yesterday I did high protein and peed like mad, but this morning I am only down 0.6. But at least I am back within the two pound range. And also, I still haven't been able to 'go' since the end of the VLCD...might pick up something at the drug store today!
Also, I don't really mind if I stabilise a bit higher than my LDW...just as long as I stabilise and don't gain it all back! I do need to work out how to eat more calories though...I calculate I need about 1700-2100 but I am struggling to think of foods that will help me get there. I may be starvihungry all the time, but I haven't a clue what to eat and as a student on a VERY tight budget, affording all the protein is really challenging!
