PHASE 4 -- How you doing?

I'll be starting Phase 4 in a few days and haven't been able to find a currently active thread. So I thought I'd start a new place we could check in and chat and share what's what, how we're doing, what we're eating, recipes, tips, tricks, how we're coping in the 'real' world, the good the bad and the ugly. : )
    So please join in!

I'm not doing the Leptin reset. It's just not how I like to eat. Going too long without food is a migraine trigger so I prefer to eat many small meals in a day. I will be following a Primal-based way of eating. Proteins, fats, veggies, fruits, low carb, low sugar, very little processed food. I've never eaten alot of dairy so that will stay about the same.
Thanks to Atkins and HCG I have found some wonderful substitutes - different sweeteners, cabbage noodles, mashed cauliflower, mashed radishes, cauliflower rice. I've found low carb bread, pita pockets, etc. But there will be days when I will treat myself to real rice, real pasta, real mashed potatoes, Italian bread. Sometimes I will have a few beers or drink a diet Coke.
I have done detox fasting for a few years now and will continue that. Never starvation fasting or for long periods. Steak day type fasting, or a 3 day detox (fruit only for 1 day, veggies only for 1 day, protein only for 1 day, all in smallish amounts). Fasting makes me feel good, feel in control, gives me energy, and I think it wakes up my metabolism.
I've always liked water and will continue drinking a good amount of it. I'm not into drinking gallons a day but I drink water and tea throughout the day.
I try to work out 3-4 times a week. I mostly do circuits, intervals, some floor work, resistance bands, walking, stationery bike. I'm not into high impact hours long aerobics or lifting. Just not my thing. Middle of the road is good for me.

Well if I haven't bored you all to death, join me and let me know how you're doing in P4! : )

    Hello Jeepcurlygurl,

I think starting a new P4 thread is good. Yesterday was my first day on P4 and this morning I was up 3 pounds. I had my first starch and nuts and gained, so today I did a steak day and am hoping I lost the 3 pounds I gained. I did a little of the reset during P3 and having a BAB every morning really helped me control my hunger. I'd like to try something different and eat less for breakfast and graze all day, but w/o gaining. I am going to do a Heller's Day tomorrow as my agency is having turkey day with all the trimmings, and I don't want to miss out. So Friday may be another steak day.

This my last day of P4 and had no problem threw it all. I didn't go wild the first week of p4 and took it slow. I lost all cravings for carbs and took sugar very slowly but added a few. I have to say I enjoyed eating the P3 food choices like cheese and almonds and avocados every day and haven't craved the junk I use too eat.Never had to do a steak day threw it all.
I stayed on the B-12 shot all the way, and added back my vitaimins in p3. I would add one thing in new every 2 days and watched the scale.
Im heading back to P2 tomorrow to lose my last 15 pounds.
I think the leptin plan is great but the problem I had with it was shift work so I couldn't do it.
The lemon water with orange stevia is my favorite drink, besides coffee with real cream in it. I couldn't be more happier with this diet, it truly is amazing.

I'm over 90 days into this P4. My body seems to like being a few more pounds that I want it to be, but I'm working on it.

I found that I enjoy eating a bit too much on the weekends and have been working on several tools to pull out of the arsenal to maintain or drop a bit after gains.

I am actually doing some days of the 17 Day Diet Cycle 1 right now as a guideline here and there for some clean eating days. I like it because it give me some easy guidelines for what to eat, but I only use it for a few days here and there so my body doesn't get used to the lower calories.

Good morning, all! It's nice to see an active P4 thread. Thanks, Deni!
I'm on my first (hopefully only) round. I've maintained well. The only steak day I've had to do was a couple of days into P4 and it worked like a charm.
I'm not doing anything "special" other than eating per protocol.

    hi all!
    I'm on P4..I guess officially (I did 4 weeks on P3) I'm on day 33 P3/4.
I think I'm doing ok! Up and down a little daily, but overall fine. I've just added the occasional sprouted bread, and tried baked beans last night. I don't think I'll do Leptin either-i want to have a glass of wine, yogurt, etc that we can't have on it.
I need to get back in excersizing-this is the toughest part for me-I'm still recovering from a car accident 1.5 years ago and cant lift weight with my left shoulder/back-So i think I'm joining curves this week, and i will just skip the shoulder stuff..anyway! book writen! great to have a new P4 thread

    Happy Thursday P4ers.
I did a steak day yesterday and dropped 2.6 lbs, so I'm ending P3 at around 3lbs over LDW. I'm cool with that.
My carbs cravings settled down quickly with HCG but I have to watch myself all the time to make sure I don't just lose control. I'm a huge carb lover. Not sugary stuff but things like rice and pasta and bread. I can go for weeks and weeks with none but if I start and I have a hard time stopping. Guess I'm a true carboholic. : )
Like you Beth, my body seems to want to be a higher weight that I'd like. I've been fighting this last 10 lbs to goal for months. I'm more than happy to be at around 135, but I know I feel my best at 125 or so.
I will have to look into the 17 day cycle thing.
Looking forward to going for chicken wings tonite. And will have a diet Coke.
dsha1, sorry about your long recovery. My gym has one floor devoted to women only with Curves type machines and some bikes and treadmills and such. I spend all my time there and don't even bother with the other 3 floors. I enjoy it and can skip any exercises that bother me - a bad C4 disc and rotater cuff, some arthritis. I want to work out but I also want to ward off any surgeries as long as possible (it's been years so far).

morning all-jeep,it sounds like you have a few issues also-but you're doing good..no surgery for years is wonderful- I like the "simplicity" of a curves workout for now-I love lifting weights, but this is better for now
    I'm up .2, but thats ok...i tried a roast chicken from safeway(sugar!) a yam and peas..delicious, but risky-LOL...
I'd like to lose a few more lbs.(max 5) I guess its ok to try and do so-not by cutting calories too much, but with excersize? I think toning will help a lot.
have a good day! snowed here today..arg!

Good to see everyone is stabalizing!

I started P4 3 days ago but haven't introduced any P4 foods yet. P3 was pretty rough for me. I never went over my LDW but I still gained without overeating or introducing new foods. I'm still 1.8 below LDW thanks to FFFs and FFF/Steak combos. I plan to introduce sweeter fruits in the next coming days and take it from there.

By the way, what's the 17 day cycle thing?

    Wish me luck!

    P4

    Hello everyone,'

Just checking in and have read all the posts from everyone. I did a yogurt and cottage cheese correction day today so hoping to get down a couple of pounds. I did a steak day last week. My goal is to get down at least 153, and not gain anything back for Thanksgiving. I'm going to try my best to stick to P3 and P4 foods, but may eat some pumpkin pie. I struggle to stabilize with everything. I don't eat any starches or sugar and have to watch the nuts and dairy. . Hoping for a good loss tomorrow so I can eat normally.

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
