    Help! Please R1P2 VLCD 24

So, in the beginning I had some trouble with hunger and sugar crashes. Now that I have that mostly under control, I am having trouble getting myself to eat the veggies, and if I eat the fruit it has to be after my protein or my sugar will crash.... I am usually under my calories and I think that might be causing my weight loss to slow. I don't know what to do, or how to motivate myself to eat more when I am not hungry. I don't like most of the veggies that are allowed and I do eat broccoli without problems.... I guess I am just at a stand still here. I have lost 15.4 lbs in 24 days and while I am pleased with that, I feel like I am sabotaging myself by not eating all that I should.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

You really really need to be eating 500 calories a day- not any more or any less. Can you try getting the veggies in a different form if you don't like them? Like in a Beef/Veggie Soup? Or a tomato soup? I'm def. not an expert- but if it were me and I just could not eat the fruit or veggies or meat- I would find a way to supplement it. Up your protein or use a meal replacement. 15lbs in 24 days is something to be VERY proud of!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in the same boat. No advice, just company. I'm on VLCD 29 and have lost 15 lbs. I, too, have a hard time getting 500 calories. I have learned to eat things I didn't think I would like, but actually - they aren't bad.

(copied from another post I did a few weeks ago)

Crunchy Spinach (lay it on parchment paper, spray with Bragg's AA, shake on Jane's Mixed-Up Salt, cook for about 10 min at 350)

Roasted Radishes (quarter the radishes, spray just a little Bragg's, cover in italian seasoning, garlic salt, whatever you like 45 min at 350)

Sauteed Onions - in a small skillet on low heat, just keep moving them around and add a little water if they start to stick

Lettuce wraps - taco flavored chicken cut in tiny pieces, then I fold a piece of lettuce around each "bite"

Sliced tomato - heavily salted - over tuna (I don't like tuna and the tomato covers the taste - I also rinse the tuna)

Lettuce/salad with tuna or chicken with S&P, then cover with grapefruit segments cut up really small with the juice poured over the salad

I made refrigerator pickles a few days ago, haven't tried them yet (I don't like plain cucumbers - I burp for hours)

I also don't like celery, but can choke it down if I put it through the juicer - add apple into the juice and it's not as strong - with a meat on the side

*** The other day I put cabbage in the crock pot with chicken stock (no sugar) and some garlic powder, onion powder, and celery salt. Cooked it all day then sauteed some chicken and added it on top of the cabbage. I could NOT believe how good it was!

The refrigerator pickles turned out to be really good, too. I'll eat 3-4 spears with a hamburger patty - yummo!

hope this helps (but I still have a hard time getting 500 calories - I am adding more protein, between 4 and 4.5 oz instead of 3.5)

I do better with veggies if I add them in as a stir fry or into a soup!!! Just a thought!

@ Tbaby, I hear you!! I don't like most of the allowed veggies either, plus many of them I've never even tried in my life!!
The lettus with vinegar is terrible, at least the way I've had it! And plain cucks aren't really doing much for me either!
But plain uncooked spinach is just unbearable for me so I've been taking 1/4 cup raw baby spinach and adding it to my OP PEA protein shake w apple slices. I like the vanilla flavor. And if u don't put too much spinach in it you hardly know its there. I've tried 1 whole cup but it's a bit strong. Also mix with the strawberries and that's ok too.

Celery makes it too jelloy. Like gelatin, ewwwwww and thick.

Those recipes posted above sound awesome tho, I've never tried that kinda stuff before!!

    Good luck

I have really been surprised how much I can eat and enjoy - I so don't/didn't love veggies. I never eat salad - yuck - so lettuce/greens have been hard for me. The crunchy spinach is FABULOUS, my go-to veg of choice. They are really thin, but they are salty and they crunch so you can trick yourself into thinking they are like potato chips - sort of. Goes great with grilled talapia.

The roasted radishes were the biggest surprise - who knew they could actually taste like roasted potatoes? I use an Italian seasoning blend, but you could use any herb/spice you like. I used to make potatoes this way (fresh rosemary is the bomb!) and no kidding, the radishes are just as good.

Grilled onion - can't believe they are healthy, they taste like desert! Once you cook them down they get very sweet. I use yellow onions - videlia if you can find them.

And the cabbage! I could not believe it! It was almost too salty, which was fine with me - nothing bland about them- but they also had a sweet taste like the onions.

I bought shredded iceburg (which has no nutritional value, but is fiber) and poured a cup of homemade venison chili over the top - YUM!

My intention was do a lot of green smoothies, but my blender died and I just never got around to buying another one. I actually like my veggies now. However, I do look forward to my old favorites - corn, carrots, peas, potatoes, - all the starchy ones! At least now I will be able to balance those with these new recipes and not go overboard on the starches.

Keep experimenting - you will find things you can share with me!
