Doc directed me to his response to a man who wanted him to tell him the hcg diet was ridiculous and didn't work. Loved his answer!

February 10th, 2012 at 7:32 am@Howard…….I might dissapoint you with my answer. I do not advocate the HCG diet because it is an incomplete way to activate proper leptin signaling and institute permanent fat burning. But HCG has some amazing effects on human biochemistry. It is a hormone of pregnancy that allows the fetus and placenta the ability to use fats extremely well to burn for fuel to fuel the massive energy requirements required to make a child. That all being said, it is not a sustainable method to lose weight because it requires that you be constantly on the protocol until the weight is gone…….and here is the big problem. It does nothing to solve the real problem. Leptin resistance. This is why so many people regain their weight as soon as they come off protocol. This is why I tell all people when they come off HCG protocol they shuld immediately jump to the Leptin Rx. But they also need to do one more big thing. They need to learn about my new addition to the reset I am laying out over the next few months. How to use cold.
But here is why I cant dismiss it totally. The people who use this has stumbled upon a metabolic trap door in our physiology that actually is quite effective for fat burning and abolishment of appetite to maintain a low calorie diet. Many people poo- poo the diet because they wrongly believe that people lose the weight because of the calorie restriction only. That is not true. This level of calorie restriction normally would immediately turn off TSH and TRH in the brain. On HCG that does not happen. Moreover there is an initial surge of some other peptide hormones that we see released in an ancient metabolic pathway we rarely use any longer in human physiology. It is called the leptin-melanocortical pathway. If you read my latest blog you will find that it is directly tied to cold thermogenesis from our environment. It is my belief now that if a person on HCG uses cold thermogenesis while on the protocol they may actually lose even more weight than if they did not use it. And this weight loss might be sustainable because they are now inducing the other epigenetic changes that HCG can not do on its own. Even the doctor who came up with the HCG diet had no earthy idea how his diet plan worked up until his death. The diet has perplexed many a scientist. It perplexed me too for a long time because it was counterintuitive. That was all true until I stumbled on data from NASA astronauts and Sherpa’s from Everest and Michael Phelps. I think your job as a mom is not to pound your daughter about HCG and further raise her cortisol……..support her unconditionally. Then get her to use the Leptin RX and cold thermogenesis to make her weight loss transition permanent, easy and sustainable. Your daughter needs your support and love now. She is trying to make herself better than before. Support her and help her. She wont kill herself or hurt herself by experimenting with the HCG diet. You just need her to have a plan with how to use it best.

Nice Post Colleen. Thanks
Question about the cold.... Grammy or anyone else know why Kruse doesn't just suggest a cold bath, instead of all of the steps he shows on his blog with starting with your face, then ice on your torso, etc?
I tried a cold bath over the weekend, to no avail. Water comming into the tub is warm, even though sink water is cold. I looked rediculous trying to fill a lage cup with cold water from my sink to add to the bath, which took forever, and then dumped my ice from my freeser into the tub, but pretty much a bust.....I am sure I looked pretty nutty...

Down another .8# on Thurs and yet another .8# this morning. It's either from extreme clean eating (<25 carbs) OR it's from two days of Dr. Kruse's Cold Therapy. Let's see if the scale goes down again tomorrow after tonight's cold bath. I do have another 1.2# to go before I even get to the 2# over LIW, but I would love to get back down within that window. Can't believe I was ever under LIW... And I'm not talking about the 72 hours after LIW.
Dr Kruse says hCG people are focused way too much on the scale. I know this is true for me. Before hCG, I never worried about what I weighed. Then I found myself over-weight and not very happy with the excess. Plus, I knew I had a big birthday coming up March 2012... the big 5-0!
I pretty jumped right into the cold bath water after attempting the cold shower---eek! I tried a little, too, with ice packs on my stomach & sides so I guess it wasn't without a small amount if cold introduction, actually.

This is really fascinating. First, I grew up being told that eating a good breakfast was most important. Second, I was always told that rinsing with cold water after a shower was 'good for you.' It seems to all make sense now, he.
Is rinsing in cold water after a shower all that is needed? Sorry, I have not read everything about this subject yet.
I am definitely going to do the leptin reset diet after P2.
I do hope to be able to enjoy some ice cream and some pizza at some point though...
ETA:
What does this mean? That cold treatment is not effective while on hcg? Ok in P3 only then?Best of all, the Leptin Rx could not work well on those with previous gastric bypass surgery that disconnected their vagus nerve from their guts. The use of cold thermogenesis renders that exclusion null and void now. The same is true for those on the injectable HCG protocol.
Just making sure.

My quote was actually from his website. Puzzled. It's written here:
And upon reading more, I guess a cold shower is not enough, yikes. Not sure I can do the rest LOLBest of all, the Leptin Rx could not work well on those with previous gastric bypass surgery that disconnected their vagus nerve from their guts.
