Since I started this plan 5 days ago I have woken up 3 to 4 times in the middle of the night to pee (sorry for the TMI!). When I weight myself at night I am usually 7 to 8 lbs heavier than the morning weight. Why am I expelling so much liquid in the middle of the night? Anyone else having this issue? I don't feel like I am drinking too much water in the evening, so I'm confused...
Dee you should only be weighing yourself once a day - in the morning and right after you get up and void. Many times people who are peeing a lot during the night have some fluid retention issues. Do you have swelling in your legs during the daytime? Many times when this is the case, when the person lays down for bed, the legs being elevated allows all that fluid to drain back into your system and they have to get up a bunch during the night to pee. I would talk to my Physician about this issue as sometimes can be related to cardiac stress. You might have been retaining even before this protocol was started but you were likely not weighing yourself daily (or in your case TWICE daily) so didn't catch it?? Just thinking out loud here but I would talk to my doctor about this.
I had the same issue in P2 - I mostly attributed it to the additional fluids consumed during the day and the loss process. It subsided in P3 and I finally went back to only once per night, which is the norm for me. I still drink a lot of fluids. So, although it can be exhausting to be interupted that many times a night, it too, will go away.
Lastone, thanks for the response. I have not noticed any swelling in my legs during the day. I recently switched from the Medi Weight Loss Clinic (500 calorie low fat high protein diet with phendimetrazine as appetite suppresent) to HCG, so I am very conscience of my weight. I lost 20 lbs on Medi but felt like my metabolism had completely stalled out. I tried my damnest to get under 150 on their plan and just couldn't, that's why I made the switch to HCG, hoping to restart my metabolism. I am at VLCD5 and am at 148 so am very excited that HCG may be what I needed to get the scale moving again.
jd - I don't even think I open my eyes when jumping out of bed to run to the bathroom anymore, ha! I will try to cut back on my water in the evening and hopefully that helps. Thanks all!
