Hi all, I've been doing HCG for the past week, I did 3 load days and this is my 5th VLCD day. Last night I had a bratty emotional cheating moment and I ate a mini kitkat and a mini twix. Wasn't really hungry and they didn't even really taste all that great to have been worth the cheat, but I was in a pissy mood and had a taste for chocolate. This morning the scales still showed a loss. I have ordered a new scale because mine is flaky (changes significantly within seconds of last weight reading) but at least I know I didn't gain (yet).

I skipped my shot today and stuck to protocol and wasn't hungry much at all, just normal hunger. I used to drink anywhere from 70 to 96 ounces of water per day, sometimes more. Now I'm getting in a minimum of 96 and trying for 126, which is four fills of my water bottle. Since being on the HCG I have been peeing soooo much, it's driving me crazy! Before the diet, I'd sometimes take prescription water pills if I'd had a lot of sodium that day and wanted to flush it out. I'm going more now on HCG (and only slightly more water) than I ever would when I took a water pill. That's making me not want to drink as much, because I'm tired of having to go all the time. I've never been pregnant but I know pregnant women have to pee alot. I thought it was because the baby pushed on the bladder but now I think it's HCG! LOL

EDITED TO ADD: By going alot, I mean two or 3 times per hour unless I stop drinking for a bit.

"Now I'm getting in a minimum of 96 and trying for 126,"

That's an awful lot of water. You really don't need to take in THAT much. 64-75 ounces is plenty.

Be good with your food... I ate chinese with my family last Sunday because I didn't have the option for anything else... and my weight gain didn't show up until two days later. Hopefully you have dodged the bullet, but don't take it for granted that you had a loss today!

I love the title of your message LOL "bratty" that's me when I cheat LOL

I always recommend people drink 1/2 their weight in ounces so if you weigh 175 you would drink about 90 ounces. This doesn't include other liquids. If you drink 1/2 your weight in ounces you won't run into the issues of potassium imbalances etc.

But a warning; if you weigh over 200 lbs, DON'T drink 100+ ounces of water every day. Even 90 is UP there and can be too much for some people. Drinking that much CAN upset your electrolyte balance. And I think teas and decaf liquids count in the total.

I completely disagree. My sports medicine doctor gave me the 1/2 your weight in ounces. Particularly in the summer. 1/2 your weight in ounces is not too much if you weigh more. It still works the same.

However, do remember that as you lose weight the amount of water you drink will go down. So if you lose 30 lbs, then you need to drink 15 ounces less.

    From the Mayo clinic:
In general, doctors recommend 8 or 9 cups a day. Here are the most common ways of calculating that amount:
    * Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is about 1.5 liters (6.3 cups) a day. You lose close to an additional liter (about 4 cups) of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace your lost fluids. (note, this isn't including additional water we might want for flushing fat out while taking HCG)
    * Eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Another approach to water intake is the "8 x 8 rule" — drink eight 8-ounce glasses of FLUID a day (about 1.9 liters). ***Although the approach really isn't supported by scientific evidence, many people use this easy-to-remember rule as a guideline for how much water and other fluids to drink. ***
    * Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day. (Note: this is just over a gallon)
    ***
The problem is when someone new reads "drink 100 ounces a day" or a gallon and a half, and then thinks 'more is better' and drinks 2 gallons a day -- they can CAUSE problems. At the very least, make sure to get proper electrolyte replacement if you choose to drink that much. On this diet, you're getting very little salt and we have had some folks getting water-intoxication.
