The UPS man arrived during my lunch hour while I was at home. Great timing!
But the box was pretty hot as I took it from him. I immediately started ripping off the tape so I could set it free to cool off. And sure enough, the gel container was pretty warm. I read the instructions that came with the box and it said "Do not expose to heat or direct sunlight"
I immediately called the pharmacy that compounded it. I asked the lady if the gel will still be okay. She put me on hold because she was unsure. Then she came back and said "yeah, it will be okay. The gel is pretty stable."
That wasn't really all that convincing, though. She told me not to put in the fridge, it has to stay at room temp. Anyone else have hot gel and it still work?
I don't want to spend $180 on this and it not work because the UPS guy had it in the truck all day.
Well they said this stuff doesn't store in the refrigerator or needs to stay cool. It just needs to be at room temperature and avoid heat. But it doesn't say what temperature range they consider "heat." It felt pretty warm holding the container in my hand. Grrr
I'd still make them do the right thing. You and they don't know HOW hot it got in that truck -- probably VERY hot. If you don't get them to replace it now - you could end up with ineffective stuff in a week or two and THEN what are your options. I went through this and getting new stuff and losing a week (and having to add a week) was not much fun.
