Simeons says to do an apple day when you reach a plateau:

An apple-day begins at lunch and continues until just before lunch of the following day. The patients are given six large apples and are told to eat one whenever they feel the desire though six apples is the maximum allowed. During an apple-day no other food or liquids except plain water are allowed and of water they may only drink just enough to quench an uncomfortable thirst if eating an apple still leaves them thirsty. Most patients feel no need for water and are quite happy with their six apples. Needless to say, an apple-day may never be given on the day on which there is no injection. The apple-day produces a gratifying loss of weight on the following day, chiefly due to the elimination of water. This water is not regained when the patients resume their normal 500-Calorie diet at lunch, and on the following days they continue to lose weight satisfactorily.

I feel your pain. I'm at day 32, just got over my second stall this round. I didn't do apple days, instead, I ate something that I haven't ever eaten in this phase both times and it jump started it. The first stall I ate shrimp for dinner, which I never eat, and last night I had some cherries after dinner, which, I never eat. I think for me, my body gets used to the same old food and when I add something different, it responds. Yeah, I guess it could have made me gain, but after a 4 day stall like I had, I just wanted to see some kind of change!

    Good luck.

I hit a plateau for 12 days. I simply rode it out and focused on the fact that my body was noticeably changing shape in those days. I didn't want to mess with apple days or shakes or anything else because I was afraid to make it worse and not better. I changed my food like missesrita did, but that did nothing. I haaaaated the scale in that period, but suddenly I got past the hump and my weight is freefalling big time every day now at the end of my round. Maybe you just need to ride it out, let the rest of you catch up, and enjoy the new changes in your body. When I finally surrendered to the fact that *I* am not in control of this but that my *body* is, the weight started dropping again. I wish I had a more tangible and proactive answer, but maybe this is your body asking for a break in order for other things to catch up. Just stick with it!

I stalled out at about 1.5 wks in to the VLCD and was only dropping one pound every 4th day for almost two weeks. I did the following, and after 2 - 3 days, it kicked back in and I'm back to losing a pound per day. I will have to go the full 40 day round now as a result, but hey - I've come this far and only have 2 wks left!

    - Got more strict about measuring my protein to be exactly 100g and added more veggies to ensure I was satisfied
    - Only thing I was doing off protocol was having a half of a diet pepsi with my lunch so I completely cut that out (and suffered a mild headache for 3 days)
    - Reduced my water intake to half my weight (only drink 64 oz now). I was drinking way too much, nearly a gallon and was pee'ing out all my potassium, so I had to start taking potassium and magnesium supplements due to exhaustion and weakness
    - Added more green tea throughout the day
    - Make sure I have at least 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar each day (either on my salad, or straight shot)
    - Drink smooth move tea every night to stay regular (I was not leading up to the stall)

Not sure if it was one thing, or the compound effect of all the changes, but it definitely made a difference in just a couple days.

The stall will pass, even though it feels like it won't - trust me :)
