I bought some Chicken Sausages from Whole Foods, but want to run the ingredients by everyone to make sure I'm not missing something...the brand is "The Original Brat Hans" and it's the Chicken Sausage Spicy Cilantro...
Ingredients: Chicken Chicken Broth Anise Cilantro Fennel Garlic Green Onion Oregano Paprika Parsley Red Pepper Sage White Pepper Salt Natural Pork Casing
Those should be okay, right??
What about the "Hebrew National" Jumbo Beef Franks...they say "No Fillers,No By Products, No Artificial Flavors/Colors.
Ingreds: Beef, Water,Salt, Sodium Lactate, Spice, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Paprika, Sodium Diacetate, Garlic Poder, Sodium Erythorbate, Flavorings, Sodium Nitrite....I know that Nitrates/Nitrites aren't great for you, but during this stabilizing period I was looking for variety.
And lastly...what about Deli Meats...like Roasted Turkey Breast, Roasted Chicken Breast...are those okay to eat, sliced fresh from the deli??
Ah! Look what I found when I googled hydrolyzed soy protein! The extraction process of hydrolysis involves boiling in a vat of acid (e.g., sulfuric acid) and then neutralizing the solution with a caustic soda. The resultant sludge is scraped off the top and allowed to dry. In addition to soy protein it contains free-form excitotoxic amino acids (e.g., MSG) and other potentially harmful chemicals including cancer-causing chemicals in many cases. A newer method of hydrolysis involves the use of bacteria by itself or in addition to the chemical processes described above. There is a possibility that genetically-manipulated bacteria may be used.
Wow...guess I'll be 86'in the hot dogs..thanks for looking that up Hamp-Young! I thought that the meat from behind the deli counter wasn't full of fillers or bad things....the kind that you have cut for you fresh?? Well, this Phase is certainly and eye opener!
