    I gained .4 pounds yesterday! I think I know why but I would like some opinions too. I had about 1/2 cup extra cucumbers yesterday between breakfast and lunch but my calories at the end of the day were still under 500. I had chicken for both meals, I don't know if that causes problems. About 140 ounces of water (which I am used to), no strenuous exercise, no meds, dose is right, only had 6 strawberries around 8 pm. Could I have eaten too late? But yesterday my 15 year old wanted me to put tanning oil on her back! And guess what I did! I carried the container, which was oily, through the house to the back yard and proceeded to spread it on her back with my right hand! It only took my 2 seconds to realize what I was doing so I ran back in and washed my hands 5 times. Because the majority of the oil was on my hand for about 30-45 seconds could this be the reason for the gain? I think so since it was really the only thing I did different yesterday. I have had extra cucumbers before and the same protein twice in one day. I hopw this doesn't stall me! I have been doing so good! Should I take a detox bath tonight? Any other suggestions?

    Could be the tanning oil. I think it would take a whole lot of extra cucumber to make you gain .4. I wouldn't stress out too much about it, though. You'll probably be fine tomorrow.

    140 ounces of water is soooo much!! How do you not LIVE in the bathroom?!

    Thanks! I think it was the tanning oil. I hope I am ok tomorrow because I am still ahead of the game on my loses! 12.2 in 11 days! My body is just used to drinking that much that while I am in the bathroom alot, it is also helping my kidneys to flush all this fat and toxins out. It's really not that bad. It's better than being hungry!!!!! :)

    A lot of other things can factor into weight fluctuations, if you think of it. If you happen to get a sunburn, maybe eat more sodium than you are used to, where you are in your cycle--all kinds of things that you may or may not be able to control.

    I was outside yesterday helping my parents paint their deck.... it was hot and sunny. I put on my 30 spf lotion, hoping it wouldn't stall me, and knew I was going to burn anyway because it was so hot. I was resigned to a stall or a gain today due to either the lotion or the sunburn, but I knew I couldn't go outside without lotion or obviously the fact that I'd applied lotion would be the least of my worries. I did get a little pink, but somehow that gain didn't happen like it usually has when I get a slight burn.

    For me, I have enough going on in the rest of my life that I will spend the time to really watch what I put in my mouth, but I can't "sweat the small stuff" like lotions and my personal care items. I'm not really a big make-up person, so I just have to deal with occasional body lotion and shampoo and such. I can only adjust for so much right now, mentally. Perhaps I have resigned myself to slower losses because of it, but I am happy and haven't overwhelmed myself.

    Would you let us know how you do tomorrow?

    Yes, I will let you know how I do tomorrow morning. I called my Naturopath and she said it was definetly the oil cuz your hands have tons of open pores in them. She told me to drink lots of water today to try and flush it out of my body and I should be okay tomorrow. In addition to the water, I am going to take a detox bath tonight too.

    I woke up this morning and I have STALLED! Damn oil! Anyway, I am thinking of doing an apple day. Do you think that is what I sould do? My naturopath told me to call her if I have stalled for 2 days but she is not in the office this weekend. I will still leave a message and see if she will be checking them but I think I am still going to do the apple day. Can I drink my regular amount of water (150oz) today while doing the apples? I am feeling a little puffy today and dehydrated. (maybe from the detox bath I had last night) Also, should I do a detox bath on the same day as an apple day? Thanks for you help!

    No, you do not need to do an apple day. It's been one day. If you stall for 3-4 days, THEN you can do an apple day. You've lost over a pound a day which is great, but it's not "the norm" for women, plus, after the first two weeks, your weight loss starts to slow. A .4 gain is not a big deal (may seem like it, but wait it out). I agree with sk8rgrrl...could have been too much sodium or the heat or your cycle. Don't sweat it. Focus on the total at the end and don't go overboard too soon in the game. Your body could be retaining water, readjusting, whatever. Lesson learned....no more tanning oil on your hands. :) In the mean time, drink your water and enjoy your day!

    Also, when you do an apple day, it's minimal water....only enough to quench your thirst.

    I don't have any experience with apple days, I've just been waiting out my stalls.... but I will tell you that I have never had much luck with the detox baths. They don't do a thing for my weight loss.
