Thank you for helping me. I'm a little worried. Can I introduce dairy on D1of P3? and have that be: cream in my coffee, yogurt for breakfast, and buttermilk marinade on my chicken for dinner? Here's my meal plan:

coffee w/cream, greek yogurt + berries
    orange or apple or cucumber
grilled burger with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and salad w/ olive oil and vinegar
    apple or orange or cucumber
buttermilk grilled chicken, ceasar salad (homemade dressing with egg and romaine cheese)
    berries with cream

sounds yummy... but I'll warn you of adding too many new foods back at one time. Some people have issues with adding more than one new item a food.

K...just posted something to you in the other thread...but the Yogurt would be your new food for tomorrow...so I'd be careful adding the egg in the dressing also, cause if you have a gain, you won't know what it was caused by..the egg, or the yogurt. Not sure about the buttermilk. Take it from me....add s l o w l y!

o.k revised my plan to include ONLY cream in my coffee and the buttermilk marinated chicken as the new foods. Now is it o.k. to have chicken with skin on it? and having a burger instead of lean beef? and are mushrooms and berries considered new foods? Do we add different veggies and fruits one at a time?

should I skip the cream in my coffee and just have the b. milk chicken?

K...I just looked at the Buttermilk that I have in the fridge...it's pretty high in sugar, 9 grams, although it's natural sugar, it's coming from the reduced fat milk, which a lot of people have issues with. Other than that, it's also made from "butter granules, and churned cream" which are fine....but I don't know what others would say about using it.

I wouldn't say that the Buttermilk is it's own food though...I think you should add the Yogurt as your new food, and do research to see if the Buttermilk is even advised right now. That's why a lot of people use Heavy Cream, even as opposed to 1/2 & 1/2, because Cream has 0 sugar, and 1/2 & 1/2 has some sugar, which comes from the "1/2 milk" in it. Some care, some don't. I actually have been switching off.

There are no more restrictions on protein choices, skin/no skin, etc...eat what you want, however much you want. You want to get your protein up pretty high. You don't need to add veggies or fruits in 1 at a time. Just be sure to use the allowed ones, and stay away from the startchy ones. Also, with the fruit, some people avoid it in the beginning of P3, but others do fine with it. The natural sugars affect some people.

I'm no expert here...and it really is learning through trial and error....

K- so many people are sensitive to eggs and dairy that i now recommend you avoid both for the first few days of P3, other than the small amount that might be present in salad dressing. if you start with meats, veggies and fruits, you can get your calories back up to normal and make sure you're not gaining just from eating more food. otherwise it's harder to figure out what the gain is from. some people are also not that hungry early in P3, so you need a few days to get up to a normal calorie level. once you've been there for a couple of days, try introducing EITHER dairy or eggs- make that the only new food for about 3 days and monitor your weight. if it's fine, then add the other. if you get past both of those without an issue, then try some nuts. those 3 are probably the most common ones to worry about in P3 so if you make it past that, you're golden. :)

Thank you mgsondance, That sounds like the most reasonable approach. I'm so afraid of gaining it all back, I guess I read so many posts about people having problems and not any of the stories about people stabilizing with ease! I re-did my plan with your guidance. Thank you.

I have been using heavy whipping cream in my coffee all along in P2 and haven't had a problem with losses. But I totally agree that you shouldn't add buttermilk just yet.
