I am nervous that I'm not doing this right. There seems to be divison in what people think. I am forcing myself to eat so that my calorie count can get up there. The last 2 days I have been CRAMMED full of food at 1200. So, I stopped there. I currently weight 206.8 pounds. SO, I should actually be eating over 2000 calories in a day. I'm hoping to continue increasing calories but just don't know how! I have successfully added eggs and dairy. I had horrible diarrhea most of the day yesterday. My weight went down this morning. That may be from the diarrhea though. However, I'm concerned that this is not good to be staying the same/loosing in P3. SHould I just be thankful that this is happening to me or what should I do? I don't want my body going back into starvation mode and consuming normal fat stores. Yet, the eat when you're hungry rule doesn't seem to apply to me either. HELP! Thank you so much anyone who can calm my fears.

try some things like cooking your veggies in olive oil, cook your eggs in butter...those things add calories without the volume. Looks like you've already added dairy so try some cottage cheese but get the full fat, not low-fat...

Don't stuff yourself until your ready to puke...you don't want to be miserable. :(

What happens if I can't get my calories up to that 2000 level? I don't want my metabolism is get used to this low of calories. That's why I'm pushing myself to eat way more than I want to. Thanks for your help. I will certainly do those things today.

I felt the same way in the beginning of P3...I just could not get enough calories in without being over full. Once you start adding cheeses and nuts though you will see that the calories jump right up! Don't stress it and just eat what you can...you will get more hungry in the next few day! Hang in there.

I have a question too. I have finished my p3 and did pretty good keeping my weight stable. However, I think I may have done it the wrong way because I kept my carb count really low. I thought we were supposed to use the induction phase of Atkins as a guide so I stayed away from most fruits and veggies as well as yogurt and everything else. Now that I am starting my p4 I am finding that every little thing makes my weight bounce up 2 pounds or more. I am having to do a steak day every other day right now. For instance, yesterday I ate a half of avocado and a half of cup of plain yogurt with my normal meals (i LOVE both these things). Today? It's a steak day (which I have grown to hate). What did I do wrong? Is this normal? I have hit my goal weight and am now wishing that I had taken off a little extra just so I don't have to do a steak day every other day.

I ate 1/2 c of FAGE totaly yogurt yesterday. Very thick and creamy. Wonderful. Plus, had a bunch of cream in my starbucks espresso. SO thankful I didn't gain today. That's good food for though becky. I may be sure to NOT be eliminating those foods that I'm "allowed" to have on P3 if it comes around to bit you in the butt! Thanks disp for the encouragement! My tummy is rumbling now so I'm going to get up and make breakfast and start another day. I'm just scared about adding the cheese and nuts since so many people say they cause them troubles. I do really see though how that could up my calories! Plus, the convenience of grabbing a slice of cheese or nuts will be awesome! IT's possible though that I'm also loosing because I'm trying to be very careful to keep my protein in to >100G range. Maybe I don't need to worry about that so much unlesss I'm getting close to my LIW??

becky....Do what you did when you strated P3...only introduce one carb a day...and try and do it in the morning so you have the rest of the day to burn it off. And the carb you introduce...make sure it is whole grain...try something with a lot of fiber. I introduced a light whole grain english muffin for breakfast first. I don't eat carbs everyday...but when I do I try to eat something healthier! I do see a little jump on the scale if I eat carbs...but not normally enough to have to do a steak or protein day. Start slow girl and you should be ok. Stay on mainly P3 foods for now...start adding the yogurt and healthy fats and fruits that you missed in P3. Good luck girl and hang in there!!

boomer....I just moved from P4 to life phase now...I usually range anywhere from 6-10lbs below ldw...I did lose weight in P3...I didn't try...I ate...i'm not sure why I lost it...but i'm not going to complain about it either...so I wouldn't stress about the weight loss...as long as you are eating and are not hungry you should be fine!! Just make sure you are eating enough and aren't hungry...you definitely don't want to be starving yourself.

becky...like disp just said, you have to take P4 just as slow as P3. You could have sensitivities to those types of foods the same as the foods you ate in P3.

I found that even things like white bread, would make the scale jump but I was fine with whole grain bread...I was only on P4 for 3 weeks so not sure if that would've balanced out later but it makes sense because white bread is processed...
