I'm an avid biker and probably burn off most of the 500 calories I eat in a day. Is it okay to have a little extra protein on the days I bike a lot? Does anyone know if it would be okay to have eggs for breakfast??
Hi Banannie, I am an avid spinner (4-5 x's a week). On the days that I spin, I add at least an extra 200 calories in protein. If I don't, I get really weak for days. I either eat some canned chicken, or have a protein shake, or sometimes both. Adding the extra protein has not hurt my losses.
I notice that I am so hungry on the days I ride, but if I eat a little bit more protein I'm satisfied. What protein shakes do you drink? Thank you for your input, I wasn't sure how much more protein would be okay.
egg whites would be ok- but i wouldn't have an egg yolk every day. Dr. S. says you can occasionally have one whole egg plus 3 additional whites as a protein substitute.
if you need something every day, i'd say to eat extra white fish or chicken (not beef). using jay robb sf protein shakes are common- if you do a search for protein shakes you'll find other brands people recommend.
you'll have to play around with how much extra you can eat- some of the guys have doubled the total amount of protein and still lost well. i'd start with an ounce or 2 and see how you do.
I'm going to pick up some Jay Robb protien powder today. I think I'll start having a shake for breakfast on the days I ride my bike to work. Does anyone know if it would be safe to add fruit? I'm in P2R1. VLCD11 -11.2
