I have been on hcg since June 7, and went from 163.8 to 149.0 as of yesterday, June 17th, until I went into Starbucks yesterday with a free coupon and ordered a venti passiontea lemonade unsweetened. They assured me there was no sugar and added a packet of sweet and low. then this morning my weight was 149.6, and I was trying to figure out why when I remembered the Starbucks drink and looked it up online and came to the conclusion that the drink has sugar, and about 60-70 calories, at least. What a dolt I am, I should have checked, I thought they just used lemon juice, it is the first time I ever ordered it. not worth it. I could have just had passion tea iced, good enough. well, live and learn, I was wondering how much this would set me back, and if there is anything I can do to conteract it. I just have to quit trying to enjoy my food for now, I will drink only tea. I just thought since we are allowed the juice of a lemon, I would be fine. It makes me think, we have to be painstaking about this, don't we?
Yeah...you have to be really careful with Starbucks...they're sneaky with their ingredients. Back when I was doing an Atkins-type diet, I ordered something I thought to be essentially sugar free & it turned out it was not. Not such a big deal for Atkins, but a really big deal for this diet and an even BIGGER deal, if you're a brittle diabetic ordering these things, thinking you're getting a sugar free product. That should be illegal.
and it really doesn't end with P2...P3 is rough because once you start reading labels, EVERYTHING has added sugar in it! They can disguise it with another name but it's still sugar. Frustrates me to no end how they can get away with calling things sugar-free and it's really loaded with it! It's no wonder we got ourselves into this weight situation to begin with.
Also beware -- Starbucks has added barley to their Frappucino Light mixture...so now added starch to those...also just took it out of my diet as I am celiac.
Bouscher, don't even get me started on what I think about the food industry & their "sneaky" practices!! Ever notice how the obesity & other major health issues didn't start really becoming an epidemic until the 70's & 80's? That's when high fructose corn syrup started replacing other sugars & started showing up in everything... & people started eating out more often than before & cooking less often at home & buying things in the grocery store that had not been previously readily available. Also, that's when the whole "diet food/low fat food industry" really exploded.
Also add to the fact that schools took out recess so they could add minutes to their day for reading and math. Plus the video game industry became popular and our youth (and adults) began playing games that needed no exercise just sit on your butt and play. Put it all together and now we have an obese nation.
I agree with all, that's why I do like some of Trudeau's book, that exposes these things, or any other books/films that do. I grew up in the 70s and 80s and that's all my family ate, all the fast food, white bread, kool-aid, etc. I was always the chubby kid, and it was horrible. because I was active and even back then, I just felt like, hmm, something's not right, why do I feel weird all the time, I think it was a sensitivity to all that processed crap. yes, it's almost impossible to eat out. now I see that a lot more kids are chubby or obese, so it's getting to be almost normal to be obese. Simeon's protocal is 50 years old! why didn't we know about it back then? it would have taken care of years of heartache in my life, healthwise.
