One more question Grammy- I have 6 more days until Phase 3. how many meals can I have the eggs?
  2.  # 34permalink
I'd do one meal a day with the eggs and one meal a day with the shakes. That should keep you under the 500 calories and at about the right grams of protein. Hope you lose lots!

    Moonunit,

I, too, am a vegetarian and I am on the prescription hcg, not the homeopathic variety... I am on day 6 total, day 4 of the VLCD... yesterday and the day before were -torture-, and I posted here to get some advice and encouragement. Kudos for doing the same!

A couple of things that work for me...

First of all, I started by following the 3.5ounce limit -religiously-, with both protein and veges. If you're not eating meat, you're not going to get up to 500 calories doing this. So yesterday I started counting calories, rather than obsessing about ounces. What I mean is, if I have a 3.5 ounce spinach salad, that's 20 calories. Ok. The original Protocol calls for 3.5 ounces of veges at any one meal, but that's only 20 calories! I can also have a tomato in there for another 16 calories, the juice from half my lemon, and 3 ounces of quinoa (at 75 calories). I've gone over on weight for veges, but I'm still looking at something like 112, 113 for the entire meal! Try that... it might help you with hunger issues. I know it was definitely the right decision for me.

Secondly, if you're used to some caffeine or similar, DO NOT try to do this diet without it. I tried that the first couple days and felt TERRIBLE. Today, I took my caffeine again and I feel perfectly normal. It's actually rather amazing :p I feel like a human again, not a zombie.

Thirdly, START with the recommended dosages, but do not take anyone's assurances that you have too much or not enough (UNLESS it's your doctor!)... each person is different. I found that by upping my dose, my desperation and cravings were powerfully suppressed. Sure, if I linger on it, I can get a taste for something but... by FAR, it's bearable.

Best of luck on your journey...!
