I'm going to work out on P3 (about an hour, 5 days a week) I'm wondering for those who've worked out, did you still manage to lose weight?

If so, what was the rate of your loss? 1lb/day? 0.5? 2lbs/week?

    lisalisaleo,

Your goal is NOT to lose during P3 but to let your body STABILIZE and reset your hypothalamus. That is the whole concept behind this diet. I'd hate to see you undo all you have accomplished in P2.

I did exercise all through P2 and P3 since I was used to exercising before starting the hcg. But I did not lose or gain any weight.

Please read or re-read Dr. S's Protocol to understand how things work so this experience will be a success for you.

If I may direct a question to you, Deb (or anyone who has experience with this), I'm going to start exercising to build my muscle and gain strength. I'll be at the end of P3/beginning of P4 when I start exercising, and I'd like to continue on in P2 when I do my next round. What sort of recommendations do you have for me to continue exercising and keep up my muscle tone while in P2? I didn't want to exercise in my first round of P2 because I wasn't sure how my body would deal with the VCLD. I felt fantastic on P2 and I hope it'll be the same sort of energy this next round. Did you do extra protein before/after your workout? Did you just listen to your body's signals as to how much exercise was enough? Any suggestions or warnings I should know for transitioning from P3/P4 exercise to P2 exercise? Thanks.

Hachi, I also have felt fantastic on both of my P2's. (Will start R2P3 in about 10 days.) I did not take any extra protein. I do an hour of combined cardio and strength 4 days/wk and several days of 40 min on my eliptical. I am planning on starting more strength training and toning though since I don't think I did enough while losing. My upper arms are sagging some. But I have lost 77lbs. and have spent many many hours in the sun during the last 23years living in TX. Plus I know genetics play a part too.

Yes, I think the best thing is to just listen to your body signals. I had no trouble transitioning from my first P4 back into P2. I have tons of energy.

Good luck. Hope things go as well for you as they have with me.

My losses for this R2 have been slower, but also closer to goal weight. I have done 2 long rounds with a 6 wk break. Lost 30lbs with R1 and down 17lbs so far with R2. Wanted to hit 20 for a total of 80lbs, but don't know if I'll make it. But at least I'm close and am really at where I should be for 5'6' (145.0). I also lost 30 lbs on my own in the 9 months before I started hcg. So ---- I'm very pleased with what I have been able to accomplish. I started at 232lbs.

Sorry I meant to type 222 lbs.

lisa- you might lose a little, but nothing like you did while on P2. i certainly would not try to lose more than 1#/wk, so that you don't stray too far from your liw.

hachi- deb gave you excellent advice. as long as you feel good, that's your cue that your body is happy with what you're doing. some people don't need additional protein when they exercise, some do. you also might have days you feel stronger than others. i'm one who has had a lot of trouble with weakness while on P2- but i've also had days i feel good enough to ride 15 or 20 miles on my bike. i think the key is to let your body dictate how much activity will be "right" on any particular day.

Thank you for the advice. While I'm not looking to lose while on my P3/P4, I am a little concerned about weight fluctuations when I start my exercise program. But I figure that as long as I keep eating my 1500+ calorie diet while I exercise I should be okay. I've stabilized nicely at exactly one pound above my LIW, and I'm really happy how my body is being very loud about what it likes and doesn't like. I'll be sure to keep listening :)
