I just wanted to recommend this movie/documentary to everyone!
I just watched it and it gave me some really good insight on the food production industry in the U.S
anyone who has seen it, I wanna know your thoughts.

LOVE IT...should be required viewing in school, in my opinion, especially in this farming/ranching community, where a good number of these kids will take over the family farm, someday, & be dealing with these very issues, from a business point of view.

Should be required viewing for anyone majoring in ag science, business, medical field, veterinary medicine, marketing, mass communications, & education, too.

Also, I appreciated the fact that it didn't come across as "preachy" or "down-your-throat", in its message, as some of the PETA, etc, stuff does. They can be uber-radical, sometimes. Not everyone intends to become vegans, &, for some families, this is their livelihood. I appreciate them looking at it from all sides, while still making their point.

    Just my thoughts.

I think anyone who eats in this country and buys food in this country should be required to watch it.
the economy runs everything, not the government, it's so important for us as a people to realize we don't control things as citizens anymore, but as consumers. I do believe that while we have the right to choose what we eat and buy, we have the power to control what kind of food is sold. I'm so glad that movie made that point.

I agree. Part of me was empowered, by watching it, and part of me was kind of despondent, feeling like a very, very, very tiny cog in a great, big, huge, enormous machine. Know what I mean?

i'm gonna have to watch this when I get home tonight! You know the more I watch the more I feel called to try to try to do something personally, even if it's just on the smallest level of buying organic and avoiding meats from Foster Farms etc (or is me saying that going to get me into legal trouble?) I really couldn't believe how closely Kevin's mom in Food Inc. had to watch what she said. That really pissed me off! but on the other hand I relate to ruralakay in feeling like what difference am I going to make? I truly believe it takes a power greater than us all to bring about change sometimes.

I have not touched pork since Food, Inc. and buy only grain fed/no hormone meat products now. Wish I could be a vegan, but it's just not in me. I need my steak, lol.

I was most disturbed about the chickens that couldn't even stand up, under the weight of their unnaturally large breast size. And, Jenni, I know what you mean about Kevin's mom. The lady that ran one of the chicken places that was contracted with (I believe) Tyson Foods ended up losing her contract with them, after the movie was released. She was only trying to do the right thing...do the best she could...and talking about it cost her. They make sure they keep the farmers/ranchers silent. Monsanto is one of the WORST INSTIGATORS of intimidation tactics. I HATE Monsanto...not to mention, they are BIG into GMO ag products (genetically modified). That's why you can take a soybean, & it is a fairly healthy item, but, genetically altered, you end up with the soy you find in most processed food, which is definitely NOT healthy! Same with corn syrup.
