Hi. I'm brand new here, but I've been reading your posts for a couple of weeks to prepare myself for this journey. This site has been by far the most informative and helpful.
Today is my first load day. I feel like I didn't get specific information about how much to eat today and tomorrow. I know we are supposed to eat fatty foods. I've been eating some stuff I crave today (cookies and pizza), but then also trying to eat some healthier fats like nuts, etc. I've also been taking some Omega 3 and fish oils today based on what I read in previous posts.
Can anyone give direction about how much to eat on load days? Am I supposed to be constantly eating fattening foods all day? Or more adding a meal and then more snacks? I don't want to gorge myself to the point of misery unless it is necessary. Also, is the second load day more important than the first since it is the last day prior to starting the VLCD?
Uhm...I feel your pain...literally. I am on day one of load & I was led to believe that, yes, you should gorge as close to the point of misery as possible. I will admit, this has been NO FUN (except for the part where I proved myself brave enough to conquer the self-injection!!). I am starting to peter out on the eating. I am trying REALLY hard to stuff, but NOTHING sounds good, and my stomach hurts & I feel like I could hurl! I am about to eat boudin (cajun sausagey thing...hard to explain) covered in more avocado. Ugh. I normally LOVE this stuff!
Hang in there & do the best you can. I realize there is a method to the madness, so I will press on, but I am starting to have flashbacks to early in my pregnancies, when EVERYTHING made me want to projectile vomit (sorry, I know, TMI). The hCG must be working!! LOL! Angela
Thanks for the support. I just ate again and feel totally sick! I find it ironic that normally I feel really guilty about eating bad foods and have a hard time stopping myself, yet the one time it is a positive thing for me to load up on really fatty food, I'm not interested. Obviously the psychological component is significant!
Ruralakay--I know exactly what boudin is! Good stuff. Doing the first shot was a huge accomplishment. If you would have ever told me that I would give myself a shot in the stomach by choice, I would have never believed it.
I wish I was loading 4th of July weekend, but I got impatient and started as soon as I could.
Good to know, I am definitely not going to be able to stuff myself. I didn't load very well didn't gain at all for R1 only a couple days of hunger so it wasn't horrible but, would like to do better R2.
There are people in my family who ate lots of food, sugar and carohydrates like ice creams, cookies, hot fudge, etc. I decided to go for just high fat - one good thing is to eat peanut butter frequently throughout the day - just 2T has over 16g fat packed in a small amount of food to go in the stomach. I ate peanut butter every two hours and didn't go for quantity of food, but quantity of fat. Avocado, macadamia nuts. Then ate huge portions at meals like steaks and greasy hamburger and bacon and cheese. I skipped things like potatoes, instead used tiny pieces of bread to carry in a couple pats of butter! If you must do sweets they say cheesecake is a good one to do on load. Good luck, by day 2 of load I could hardly force myself to eat but did it - you will too. I am on VLCD day 11 of 40 (9.5 lbs gone) so I will join you guys in July for a couple weeks.
