I am in the 3rd week of p3, about 5 days ago I started doing 30 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of light working out. I got on the scale today to a 5 pound gain?! I am freaking out!!!! I know that there is some water retention that happens but really that much? I have been sticking to the p3 foods and haven't added in anything new this week (was having a difficult time stabilizing with new stuff)
My question now is what do I do-- just let it subside, do a steak or protein day, stop working out, or is there any other option? I actually feel bloated and heavier. ug. I feel as if the weight is slowly creeping back...
If you haven't eaten anything yet you can try a steak day. Since you are exercising, personally I think you are just seeing the results of muscles healing. I would suggest that it would balance out. You've only been doing it for 5 days. Have you done it every day? And are you drinking extra water due to the exercise?
You could also just add a protein shake after your workout to help in repairing your muscles.
I have done it every day and been drinking lots of water, taking the day off today because I am so sore. I guess I need to ease into the working out thing!
LOL but if feels so good right? I hear you. I'm glad your taking a day off. Gives you muscles a chance to relax. I wouldn't sweat the weight gain, I really think you are just healing the muscles. :)
Not necessarily :) I build muscle all the time and don't increase my weight. What does increase are the fluids that are in my body healing the muscles I just tore down :)
Just to interject here a moment. It's impossible to build muscle in 5 days - what you are doing is actually tearing your muscle fibers - sort of like "breaking down to build up" - that tearing of the fibers causes a water retention. Keep drinking your water (and use a low carb protein shake (whey) after you ilft) You will lose the water weight and stablize just fine. Keep getting the right stuff - clean and it will all balance itself out. Remember - as you gain muscle over time - the scale may go up or stablize but you will losing inches - and therefore toning - giving you a much better shape. Remember to take proper 'rest days' - your muscle actually repair the most during rest.
