jokamo...if you find that you can eat sugar-free bacon on P3 without gaining, you might want to try my fave way to eat brussels sprouts. I cook a large diced onion and chopped bacon in a skillet til the onions are caramelizing a little and the bacon is crisp. Halfway through the onion cooking time, I add a box of frozen brus sprouts. Sprinkle on some garlic powder and salt/pepper. I use a LOT of garlic in everything. Keep cooking til the sprouts are cooked thru. You can have the fats on P3, but if you want to do it healthier, you can cook the onion and bacon, drain the bacon grease, then cook the frozen (or fresh) sprouts the way you normally would and add the onion and bacon in at the end. I like to cook it all in the bacon grease for a sinful treat and a lot more flavor. LOL.
None of this works for P2, but I ate it several times in P3 and did not gain. I did eat the sprouts alongside a hearty protein, like a steak or chops, just in case. Not sure if that balanced it or if it would have been ok without it. I was too afraid to try them alone. lol
Oh, I forgot to mention that I went rogue and ate broccoli all during P2 and certainly in P3. I like it, it liked me, so we were BFF's thru the whole thing. Not on protocol on P2 evidently, so use at your own discretion. Definitely ok in P3 if it works with your individual body chemistry on the diet. Try it and see. Stop eating it if you gain. :]
I am the last person who thought she would ever post a recipe here. I rarely use a recipe on this diet. Just eat a grilled or baked lean protein and veggies all the time. But this? This is one of my fave veggie recipes of all time. Once I found out there is sugar-free bacon, I knew I was set for P3 fun. :]
In my old life, and in my future P4 life, I will add pasta and some parm or mozzerella and toss at the end. I do all sorts of pasta recipes with either broccoli, cabbage or brus sprouts, then add some onions and garlic, bell peppers, whatever I have on hand, add pasta and cheese, sometimes needs chicken broth because it's too dry. Amazingly filling---and cheap, said the mother of 4. lol. I guess I'll be sure to use a whole grain pasta in the future, now that I am being more vigilant about my food choices.
Probably be the only recipe I ever post, so enjoy! :]
