I read up on some P2 recipes on scribd.com. In one of them someone had cooked some lean ground turkey with some celery. I did just that - had it for lunch. It was awesome! Then I went to add it to my tracker and noticed there is no turkey listed!!!! What to do now? Will it totally mess me up? I am on my 1st round of HSG - 7 days in. Anybody out there have any thoughts on what it will do to my weight loss? Any help is much appreciated!!
Count this as a learning experience and write off turkey. Substitute ground chicken instead. Turkey is a higher fat content than chicken and might show up on the scale tomorrow or even over the next couple of days. Then again, you might be just fine. Everybody's different and metabolizes food better or worse than others. Just don't let it give you that false sense of 'oh hey, nothing happened...let's do it again!" Drink lots of water, watch very carefully what you eat from here on out, and in the long run you'll be just fine.
OMG! I knew it! uh, and I was doing just fine! Bummer. I really hope the scale doesn't hate me tomorrow. Thanks Varden for your feedback!! Going to get some water now like you suggested. Fingers crossed for tomorrow's weigh in! :(
I have used ground turkey a couple of times this go round and have been fine. It was extra extra lean turkey. It's still not as lean as chicken, but did not have as much fat as 96% lean ground beef. Don't worry about it until tomorrow and deal with it then!
Superchick -- how can I change it tomorrow? I would think on day 8 would be too soon to do an apple day? Or do you think that's the best option if I gain?
Don't panic! it won't necessarily cause a gain just because it's not on protocol. that said, you might not lose either but, that's up to your body, we're all so different. It's really tough when you have all these awesome recipes floating around and they say they are for P2...you take their word for it. I also learned the hard way...so many of my recipes had Braggs amino's in it so I thought it was an approved seasoning/spice. WRONG. it actually stalled me.
Lesson learned by both of us...compare every recipe back to Doc. S' protocol ;)
Panic should of been my middle name! I follow everything to the T and can't believe I followed something without checking it better. I even went to the store tonight and bought more stupid ground turkey! :( Sticking with chicken, gbeef and shrimp. ugh! Still SO mad at myself!
I did the same thing for some reason I thought ground turkey was on the list until it was mentioned by someone on one of the posts :( Stopped eating it as soon as I found out. Didn't cause any problems.. stop worrying that might. Stressing is not good honest mistake :) Go have a cup of tea.
don't worry- there are a lot of people who have eaten turkey and done just fine- as long as it's ground turkey breast only- other ground turkey can have skin ground up in it.
no apple day- that's only if you have stalled for 4 or more days.
It was 97% fat free white turkey breast. I was thinking I was doing better than ground beef's fat content. Oh well. Still mad at myself but, feel a bit better to see others have made the same blunder. I TOTALLY appreciate everyone writing me back. Eased my mind slightly! :) michelle
