These message boards are fabulous and full of information. I have read a lot of posts but can not find info on my delima.
I took my last sublingual Monday June 28th. Tuesday and wednesday I could hardly keep anything down. I am eating more now but everything tastes "off". I am hardly getting 1200 calories a day. I do not want to mess up what I have acomplished so far. I know I did HCG p2 almost perfectly and do not want to do it again. Last night I had a dirty martini (which I loved 5 weeks ago)- and only took 2 sips because it was aweful tasting. Here are my questions if anyone has advice I would appreciate it.
1. If I am not adding fats and calories back in quickly enough will this hurt my long term maintenance? The 6 months before HCG I was eating healthy with no butter or sugar (but not losing weight fast enough) 2. What is it about wheat that is not ok? why is melba toast ok? 3. Does food allergins have an effect on what you add back in to your diet? 4. How long should you be concerned with weight differences? I plan on resuming my exercise routine and I know I will gain muscle weight. I have never been a "weight watcher" but more of a "size watcher"
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If it helps here is my last two days menu
Friday- 1/2 grapefruit, lunch salad-spinach, romaine, cheese, ham, tom, mush, eggs oil & vinegar, dinner meatloaf (tomatoes, onion, garlic, rosemary, seasonings), green beans steamed, strawberries Sat- 1/2 grapefruit, lunch dip cream cheese, italian sausage, rotel, dinner grilled tuna with olive oil and capers, sauteed spinach, apple
Hi. It sure looks like you are eating well. I found a document, PDF for Phase 3, and I am just days away so I am trying to read, plan and hopefully be successful. It does say to add back slowly, and to increase your calories to 11x your LIW which I think is about a 2-3 week process with close monitoring. I am sure my stomach has shrunk and I would think having fats again could cause some digestive issues. I have read that ham and pork in general may not be good choices if they are processed products; hidden ingrediants. The PDF does say to add more protein and fats and it appears you have, somewhat like a modifed Atkins (there seem to be many posts on here about going the Atkins type diet route) so look for Phase 3 and 4 discussions and you may find more info there?
I can say it appears the Phase 3 and 4 parts require more detail and planning so I am little nervous myself! I am so excited about my weight loss and cannot wait until Round 2 and wearing a beautiful size 10 dress I have at Christmas!!!
i was the same way, but i started to gain from not eating enough. i started implementing protein shakes in my day and everything worked out. this was only for a couple of weeks, not for the entire p3. good luck!
Melba is NOT ok on P3...no sugar or starch whatsoever in P3.
If you have a food sensitivity, you'll likely see a big spike on the scale (that's just 1 possible symptom), something more like 3-4lbs, not the usual/normal day to day fluctuations.
One thing I did as way to get my calories up was to fry veggies in something like olive oil...adding calories but not volume. Also, figure up your BMR, you don't need to count calories in P3 but it's not a bad idea to know "your limits". Don't force it and go hog wild just to cram calories in, you'll just make yourself miserable :)
It took well over a week for me to get some sort of hunger back. Even still....I look at food and most meal I just have no desire. I have started drinking 1 or 2 protein shakes a day to help get my protein and calories in. I'm not getting to crazy with it as I'm starting round 2 in two weeks, but I think it's pretty normal. I know my tummy has certainly gotten smaller as when I do feel hungry, I can't eat nearly as much as I did pre-hcg. I have been stable since starting P3, so I guess I'm doing an ok job balancing it out.
I think the melba and other starches are not allowed in P3 because you're adding back in a lot of fat. And after such a restricted diet, mucho fat in combination with starch and sugar will cause weight gain, until you've stabilized for a few weeks. Those weeks are critical to allow your body to cement that "set point".
Bedoine, it is not unusual for people to hit P3 and find their tastes have changed. I loved cheddar cheese prior to hcg and now I can take it or leave it, so don't be alarmed, your tastes are changing. This means there are many new foods for you to try, if you want to look at it from another angle.
In P3, you don't have to count calories, the rule is no sugar, no starch. Having said that, you do want to up your calories now and yes, it is important to do so now because now is when you are re-setting your hypothalamus and you want it to have as many calories as you can so you will have less problems in P4/Life. In other words, you want your body to reset it's hypothalamus to the metabolic needs of a teenage boy. When you get to P4, you will be able to eat the things you want (in moderation, of course) without having to worry. Eat what you like and be sure to get the fat in now to get your calories up. Later in P4, you will not want to eat so many fats when you eat starch and/or sugar. You should eat at a minimum of 1500 calories, but I would go for over 2000 if you can. Don't be afraid of the calories, be afraid of not eating them and resetting your hypothalamus at a lower level.
My caveat is that the most important round in which to accomplish this is your last round. So if this is your last round, be conscientious. Also if it is your last round, congratulations for reaching goal. :)
