I'm on R1 VLCD day 12... For the last 5 days (VLCD day 8-12) I have been hovering at an 8lb - 8.5 lb loss (pre-load) with 21 lbs til my target weight. I'm stalling! Is it too early? I'm starting to feel that old feeling of frustration creep in...that feeling that all is for naught, just like every other diet I've tried most of my life. Is it time to jump start my program with the apple diet? Or am I panicking too early? I veered from the program 1 day (took in 900 cals in a starvation-feeling mode). The only change I've made over the last few days is I've switched out my pre-measured, home-grilled chicken breast for a Subway chicken breast with their salad... Total protein intake is 3.5 oz - 8 oz... I added between 2oz and 4 oz of protein on days when I work out and am really hungry by mid-afternoon. Am I stalling? I'm switching out the Subway chicken for my own, going forward. Other than that...? Is it time to panic?

I don't see anything wrong with adding the extra protein, although it could slow your losses if you aren't exercising, but I would be cautious of the Subway chicken. It's just a pc. of grilled chicken but, it's the preservatives, etc that they put in/on them. I'd leave that out of the mix for a couple days and see how you do.

ok, don't use anything that you have not made yourself...no substitutions! I did this diet before and was like you in thinking these little things do not matter. Guess what, it all matters. I now make all of my meals and I work out every single day and do not add any extra protein. Just make your protein ahead of time and put it in the fridge and bring it with you. I am losing a pound a day (big shock for me) and I started on the 17th of May. Read pounds and inches by Simeons and you will understand the rational for eating specific foods and in certain amounts. 8oz of chicken breast (weighed before cooking) that ISN'T cooked in oil is 240 calories alone! I can give you the meal plan that I boringly eat every day if you need it

Any deviation from the diet can cause you to stall. The 900 calorie day would have an impact for 3 days usually. The biggest concern is that you're hungry. What dose are you on and what method of hcg?

Agreed on the Subway chicken. There's no way of knowing with what it's injected and/or marinated. Likely a 20% sugar/salt solution!

When I am hungry, I drink a ton of water. Another thing I found that has been satisfying and hasn't changed my loss is dill pickles. Some of them are low sodium and 0 calories (whole foods brand is awesome). So I may have one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Besides that, I just load up on water. Not saying I am not hungry all the time but the way I see it is that I get a lot more satisfaction from dropping a pound in the morning than I do from a little bit more food.

Hey all, the scale has started to move again (I hope I'm not speaking too soon!) I gave up the Subway chicken, upped my HCG dose and added more water. Not sure if it was the extra HCG or the water, but either way I'm going to keep doing it! Hunger seems better, too. Maybe I'm getting the hang of this?! :-) I'm on R1 VLCD day 13 and am down 10 lbs from my pre-load weight. I'm so excited about the loss..... This is the least I've weighed in 4 years. :-)

you really can't trust any fast food- almost always has sugar and other additives.

It's VLCD 23 and I'm down another 2 lbs from my last post... That's 2 lbs in the last 10 days! I think the scale has finally started to move again... Cut my apples back from 2/day to 1/day and have added strawberries as my 2nd fruit.......... i think 2--110 cal apples per day was too much........

I'm having concerns too. I'm on VLCD 4 and have been very hungry. Am doing homeopathic hcg...and initially questioned the brand but others backed it up saying they've had no problems (hcgdietinfo.com).

I have had losses but I am weighing on a scale that also measures fat and water percentage....which has been less encouraging that the scale moving.

    Pre-load: 163
    Post-load: 166 (32.9% fat)
    VLCD 2: 163.4 (32.6% fat)
    VLCD 3: 161.4 (32.6% fat)
    VLCD 4: 160.8 (33% fat)

    Target: 140-145 (25% fat)

I did the math each day and my losses were about half water and half fat...until today. Today, even though the scale went down 0.6 pounds....I actually gained 0.45 pounds of fat. How discouraging!! On top of that...I'm hungry.

Though I suspect after reading this that my small deviations yesterday made a difference. I had a few extra strawberries (was so dang hungry) and extra protein. Also, misplanned my veggies for this week's meal plan when shopping and ate canned green beans for dinner (which is not on the protocol)....do you think something so small could have made a difference? Making dinner is hard because my husband is not on the diet...so I have to make extra stuff for him....that won't make him unhappy...ya know?
