I tried these for the first time today. I was really impressed ! ! ! I purchased mine from Whole Foods and I think were about $2 or $2.50 for a bag that would make for me 4-5 servings.
YOU MUST RINSE THEM A LOT ! ! ! Also I read that it helps the texture to put in the hot pan and dry them off after rinsing. It takes some of that "slimy" texture away. There are a lot of great recipes online with them.
I just felt like I ate Spaghetti for Dinner ! ! ! It was really good. I made a homemade tomato sauce sweetened with stevia and put 1 tsp of the new 5 Calorie Ketchup (Low Sugar) might be a slight cheat.... :( fresh tomato..... blended it up with lots of spices. YUM ! !
Angelmom; I'll have to try your sauce recipe when my noodles arrive. I am in a small town in Alberta, Canada and no stores have the noodles that I have found, so ordered them on line. More expensive than yours for sure and then add on shipping, I hope I'm not waisting my money! Found some fun recipes online though that I plan to try.
These have been a godsend for me in P2 and P3, I need more volume of food to fill me up. I didn't mind the texture, I just cut them into small pieces.
There are a lot of different recipes you can try. My favorite ways to prepare them in P2 are to bake them in casserole with liquid egg substitute, spinach, chicken broth powder, and different spices (make sure you pre-cook the noodles and spinach well in a skillet to drain off all water). I also like to make a sweet and sour shredded cabbage dish with them--I use the juice from the allowed orange or unsweetened Kool-aid, vinegar and stevia with shredded cabbage, the noodles, ground meat, liquid smoke and onion and garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
I said I'd report on the noodles when they arrived. At first I was totally grossed out by them, then I cleaned them and dried them, then cooked only for a minute and the smell and texture were better. I did not like the initial smell of the noodles when I opend the package, but after cleaning them thoroughly they were better. They really have no flavour, I made a plum tomatoe mixture to go onto of the noodles with some chicken cut up in it. It tasted all right, but was not crazy for it. I'll have to try some of the other recipees out there.
