Look through some links from Atkins friends and got a " heads up" on these Shirataki noodles, no calories,no fat, and few carbs? sound to good to be true. Has anyone tried these, and how do they relate to the hCG diet?
I tried them and the first time I made them they were so rubbery they reminded me of eating rubber bands. The next time i followed differant more detailed instructions and they were a little better, but still not worth eating in my opinion. I was never that hungry, so it didn't seem worth eating them to me.
Powderz I just read your response and the Ad below was for the miracle noodles... in p2 d2 and starving..so I was looking for something that fills the whole and keeps me in-line with the diet?
I just ate shirataki noodles for the first time tonight. I washed them really well, then boiled them for 3 minutes as the instructions said, and stir fried them with some lemon juice. I'm sensitive to the texture of food and I was able to eat some of it fine. I didn't eat very much because some people said that they gained, but I was feeling really weak and wanted to get a little extra food with my shrimp just to feel like I was eating more.
Most people prefer Miracle Noodles to shirataki noodles, but they did not carry them at the Central Market I go to. They said that Whole Foods carries them. Hopefully that helps.
It was Miracle Noodles that I tried. I ordered them online off of their website. The instructions on the package was differant than the instructions they e-mailed to me. The e-mailed ones were better but they were still a huge disappointment to me. I still have 8 packages sitting in my fridge.
Ok so I tried these tonight! I went to my local Asian market (99 Ranch Market) and bought the noodles there. They didn't have as many types as there are on the net but they had two types, the ones that are 0 everything made from yams and then the other shirataki tofu ones with 3g carbs. I tried the 0 everything ones as I am in my last three days of vlcd still.
I rinsed well and strained them. I didn't bother to boil them just stir-fried (in a nonstick pan with no oil) with some fresh ginger and garlic. If you do boil them, I would suggest straining and then pan frying them to remove as much moisture as possible. They were pretty good. The texture reminds me of some of the cellophane noddle dishes you find in Asian cuisine. I am going to look at whole foods to see if they have a different brand with more styles but I think they will probably work best with Asian style dishes, not sure how well they will work with a tomato type sauce (P3 of course). But I will try them again for sure, I love to cook and try different things and these could add a little bit of bulk to a meal without much effect especially in P3 when there is no hcg keeping you from being hungry. Now if they could just invent some 0 everything buttered popcorn that tastes like the real thing I would be in heaven. Good luck all!!!
I like to eat them spicy with the shrimp. I add crushed hot peppers, onion, 1/3-1/2 bag on noodles (very well washed) and 12 shrimp. I haven't had a problem w/them. The shrimp has a similar texture, maybe that is why. I got my at the local asian market, for cheap. Some HEBs (local grocery store) carry them as well. I want to try and cut them up small and add stevia and cinnamon and then cook it for a bit to see if it could be a sweet treat. But right now, I only have the seaweed version. Good luck.
nice.. will try them... I could use the bulk in over all food volume..as I think that, that is a problem in the over all diet.. my meal are so spare in overall consumption I feeling cheated each meal..
I have some of the miracle noodles coming that I ordered from online, I plan on using on days when I really need to change up things and need a break. I'll post later after I tried them and let you know what they're like for me! Everyone had different needs and taste buds.
I tried them today, and just couldn't get past the texture of them. Had nothing to do with the taste since they tasted like the broth they were in. It was just the feel of them when I tried to chew them. I was really hoping to like them too. I hope ya'll like em, it would've been great to have a "free" food on this diet..lol. Peggy
