I'm trying to figure out my strategy for round 2 of hhcg. I did 38 days for round 1 and lost 22lb - I cheated a handful of times, which definitely did not help, but in between that I lost well. I've stabilized well.

I'm a runner, but have only been walking several miles a day for the past few months (and while on P2 did fine with that) because of an ankle injury. I want to run a half-marathon at the end of October, but I want to do a second round of P2 in September. I would plan to start my training August 1, following a 12-week training plan. So by the time I started P2 on August 30, I'd have a month of running consistently under my belt (plus I hope to be able to do at least 30-45 min 3x/week for the rest of July).

Has anyone run 10-20 miles a week on P2? Did you do okay? Did you add extra protein or fruit? Am I nuts to think of doing this, or do you think I'll be okay?

personally, i would not recommend it. you're putting a lot of stress on your body by exercising hard, at the same time that your body is already stressed from the protocol. if you want to do a round, i would recommend at least an additional serving of protein, if not doubling the recommended amount.

My doctor said that he has two patients who are training for a marathon and 3 who do a really hard core bootcamp in the mornings. He said that he had concerns about them doing it, but they all reported no problems. I think they were all at least generally in shape when starting is the only thing.

Bohidmama.. I am an avid runner.. always have been.. I have done many half marathons, relays, etc.. I tried to run a few times on Phase 2.. well I tried the first two days and I DO NOT RECCOMMEND it personally.. I think a few times you will be ok and will not notice a thing, however, day three four, five of running you will def notice!.. Eventually it adds up, your hunger increases and you want to cheat more on the diet.. .. your body craves carbs and needs more protein and food to help the muscles recover and energy to get through your intense running workout..
That is just my advice and how my body responds.. you may be different, however. If you were only p3,p4 I would say you would b ok.. When I get to p3 I am going to be running because we are allowed much more cals and food choices.. I would not in p2 :)

for those who want to continue to work out vigorously, many gals eat extra protein and do fine.

Thanks for the input. I ended up doing P2R2 earlier than is ideal, and I only have 6 more days until I'm done with P2! I'm 5 lb away from my goal weight. I've just been walking - did a few hard hikes in the beginning, which was fine, but in retrospect I wouldn't want to have ramped up my running during P2. Maintained what I was already doing? Yes. But starting more training, no. Anyway, my ankle needed more time to heal, so I figured I'd help it out by shedding an extra 30 lb while I was waiting for that.

I'm a triathlete and just finished a pretty high level training cycle prior to start my first round of P2 (I'm on VLCD8). I have gone cycling twice and felt fine. I went running once (after doing 30 minutes of yoga, which may have been my mistake) and barely made it through 30 minutes. I felt like I had less tolerance for the heat, starting feeling weak after 15 minutes and felt like my breathing was a bit labored.

Don't over exercise, especially if you are older. I did lawn work, mowing in the heat.....became very weak and super head ache. I did light walking, stuff like that and did fine. Let the diet work for you....exercising extremely is NOT necessary.
