Hey everyone, I need a bit of advice... hoping you can help me out.

I'm R3P3D11, and I was stabilizing beautifully until yesterday, when I woke up and was up 2.5 lbs!! As you can imagine I was totally bummed... and even worse, I couldn't think of why I would have had such a gain... no cheating, no nothing! So I did a protein day yesterday and pounded the water... and when I got on the scale today it DID. NOT. BUDGE. I was dumbfounded and devastated! This puts me up exactly 2 lbs. over my LDW, and for two days in a row... so in the asbsence of knowing what else I could possibly do, I'm doing a steak day today.

And then, about ten minutes ago, out of nowhere, it hits me... on Sunday night we grilled steaks for dinner, and I was going to steam some broccoli but I was out... so I grabbed some GREEN BEANS instead, and never looked back. HELLOOOO, what was I THINKING???? I bet I ate an entire cup of them, too... honestly, what a complete dork I am for totally brainfarting (pun intended) and partaking of not only the "magical fruit"... but the "FORBIDDEN FRUIT!!"

Do you think this steak day will undo the damage? Should I stick with strict protein days (meat, eggs, cheese, veggies) until the gain goes away? Is there anything else you can think of that will help banish the beans from my system ASAP?? Any insight you can share would be much appreciated!

Thanks, gang... always grateful for your support.

    CG :)

I would stick with protein days ...but you're still within the 2 pound mark (right on it!) As for the green beans, it really isn't a starchy veggie so it might not be the issue. Is TOM close by? Did the seasonings for steaks have sugar in it?

Dont worry, not even for one sec. It is not on protocol but i have never heard any stories of anyone stalling. worrying about it could make you stall tho- so dont trip.

Isn't she is P3? ...so stalls aren't a concern. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong...

Thanks for your quick response, Robb! :)

I thought beans were a no-no, because they're too starchy...??? I've done my other rounds under this assumption based on what I remember reading in the protocol...

Steaks were only seasoned with kosher salt, ground black pepper and some onion powder... HOWEVER... I also made a sauce to go on top of the steaks that consisted of sauteed mushrooms, butter, garlic and.. uh... red cooking wine.

    Oh, dear. Was that bad??

Now that I'm thinking this through... I'm betting the sodium in the cooking wine could be through the roof... and historically I am VERY sensitive to sodium in P3, even more than sugars.

Plus... I just realized today that I that I'm ovulating... but in my other rounds I haven't typically gained during ovulation (TOM a little, but not OVU)... so I didn't consider that a factor.

Now I'm wondering if this could actually be a combination of all these things... too much sodium, too much starch, hormonal fluctuation... the Perfect Storm, if you will... what do you think?

You're on the right track CG... it probably is a combination of things - and don't forget the increase temperatures outside! Heat alone will made you retain water!

Just stick to those protein days and you'll get back where you were...

green beans are totally fine on P3- some people even eat them on P2. the beans you can't have are things like pinto beans, chili beans, etc.
