It is my husband's 40th this weekend and I want to make a chocolate cake. I found this recipe with agave. We are starting P4 over the weekend. Will this be okay? Anyone know a substitution for agave with either xylitol or stevia? I would love to sub coconut oil for some of the grapeseed as well.

Does coconut oil substitute out ok for grapeseed oil? I have Elanas recipe book and haven't made a lot because the oil is expensive!

This will be my first baking experience! Maybe I should stick to the recipe!

    Try this website

IT will take you to the cheesecake recipe that I added to my favorites but she has tons of recipes using alternative sweetners (xylitol etc) and starch free...I can't wait to try some of them!

In Elana's recipes I have subbed butter or vegetable oil for the grapeseed - I usually have grapeseed though - gives things a yummy buttery flavor.

I would just go with the agave - it is low glycemic so should be fine in P4 - I use it exclusively as my sweetner in P4.

Thanks! I'll let you know how it goes. I also bought some yacon syrup which I'm curious to try as well. It is supposed to be very healthy, a probiotic and low glycemic.
