I keep hearing that eating too little is as bad as eating too much, and I keep hearing that if you have stalled you should stop with the melba toast or grissini, skip a fruit, etc.

I have never eaten a melba toast or grissini.

I stalled for several days, then started cutting out a fruit, then started cutting out a protein and a fruit, then skipped dinner entirely, now back to cutting out a protein and a fruit. Stall is at 13 days now with no cheats. Last 9 days I have had only 1 apple or orange per day. Last 4 days I have had protein only at lunch and skipped one dinner entirely. I am at my wits end and am wondering now whether this stall was precipitated by a day when I had no fruit at all (this was the last day I lost weight).

Why is eating too little as bad as eating too much? I am going to return to full protocol meals and see what happens, but I am very curious about all this. I have twelve days left before P3.

Your body can go into starvation mode if you eat to little, but its ok to not eat when you are full, as per Dr. S in P&I. You really shouldn't cut out the protein at all though, the protein is very important. You could have reached a former level plteau. Here's what it says in P&I

"The third type of interruption in the regular loss of weight may last much longer - ten days to two weeks. Fortunately, it is rare and only occurs in very advanced cases, and then hardly ever during the first course of treatment. It is seen only in those patients who during some period of their lives have maintained a certain fixed degree of obesity for ten years or more and have then at some time rapidly increased beyond that weight. When then in the course of treatment the former level is reached, it may take two weeks of no loss, in spite of HCG and diet, before further reduction is normally resumed."

Have you tried an apple day? I know many say they don't work, but they always did for me.

Some stuff i picked up along the way.

Protein is what your body uses to fix and repair cells, create new cells, hormones, etc. That is pretty much its only function
Carbohydrates are used to run the machine. any energy required by the body is supplied by Carbs.
Fats are for lubrication, and some other stuff that i am not clear on.

It is generally accepted that an individual requires between 0.08 to 2.0 grams of protein per kilogram of lean mass to maintain that mass. So 60 grams of protein ( most sources of protein are only 1/3 actual protein the rest is water fat and cell structure) should support a person between 75 kg (165 lbs) and 120kg ( 264 lbs)

I explain this to show that the protein is required since you cannot repair/ rebuild / or deconstruct with out it

I was told that the body releases the fat in energy then fills the cells up with water until such a time when the body decides to deconstruct the cell. ( no clue how to suggest it get on with demolishing the cell )

I take and additional amino acid supplement called Amino All to assist and encourage my body. I am giving it no reason to slack off ( not that it still doesnt do exactly what it wants from time to time)

Carbs we have in abundance thanks to HCG

Fats we also have in abundance due to our hypothalamus

The small amount of carbs we intake in the forms of vegetables are meant ( I think) to keep the bowel normalized and add trace minerals that we are going to loose throughout the process.

    Hope that helps a little
    Thankful People: JoAnn

I say try double protein days with little to no fruit to get through a stall.

Thanks for all the input. Kay, I like your suggestion of the double protein day; I think I will do that today. I ate about an hour ago but am starving (which is unusual for me). I didn't realize how important eating all the protein is so I will be sure to keep it up. And just in case I am in starvation mode I'll be sure to eat everything for the next few days. If that doesn't work, I'll be near the end of P2 anyway so I'll just go on to P3 and see if I can stabilize here.

Kimmelane, as long as you are taking hcg, you cannot be in starvation mode as the hcg is causing your body to use abnormal fat for fuel ergo burning calories.

Kimmelane, I spend most of my protocol with increased protein and reduced veggies/fruit/bread. I don't necessarily double my protein but definitely have a few grams more at each meal. I also incorporate protein at breakfast and that helps me A LOT. I am on day 21 and am at a very comfortable hunger level and haven't hit a stall yet (knock on wood). I know everyone says "listen to your body" and it always sounds like hogwash to me, but it's true. Our bodies love the protein so not matter what you do, don't omit your protein. The diet is designed to where we are already on the border of what is considered a healthy amount of protein. Any less and we risk being protein deficient.

I wouldn't skip a protein. You don't want your body to go into starvation mode. You really need the protein.

I ate an extra protein right after my last post and felt physically better. Today I have felt unwell all day, but each time I've eaten I've felt better for a little while. I think you guys are right and I need to quit skipping my proteins. I may have one more (which will make 3 for the day) before I go to bed. Then we'll see what the scales say in the morning!
