I feel the need to break everything down so I know I am doing this correctly. Im just pretty worried because I am absolutely starving. Like I can feel and tell that my body is not getting the nutrients it needs, so here is what I am doing: -on day 2 of the VLCD. Day 4 total - ordered 2000 iu mixed with 4cc of bac water -yesterday I took 150 units today 200 because i was so hungry yesterday. - in the morning i have coffee, later i'll have my fruit, then lunch i have 3 oz of chicken with spinach. now i am eating an orange and will have my dinner shortly. -im 5'8 after loading started out 134.4 this morning im already down to 130.8 so I am loosing weight but I just feel incredibly hungry. Please respond to let me know if i messed up with the water? or something else. Thank you !
Straight off, I'm not an expert. This is my first P2, so I'm relatively new, but I'm responding because I went through a similar situation at the beginning of mine and people here really helped me out. :)
So here's some questions...
First of all, are you injecting, or sub-lingual? That'll make a huge difference in whether your dose is right. But in general, yes, playing with the dose is the right thing to try. Too little OR too much can mess with you.
Secondly, check to see if you're getting enough protein. That was one of my initial problems -- fixing it helped with energy and losses! I believe the formula I read was something like .37 x lbs of body weight = grams of protein per day. I wound up supplementing mine with some Sun Warrior protein shakes and that worked great. (So basically, I upped the calories from protein and dropped a melba and a fruit)
Thirdly, what is your goal weight? I don't mean to get personal whatsoever, but you say you're 5'8 and 134.4... I'm no doctor but... well, here's a link to a Body Mass Index calculator:
http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
I put in your numbers and you're square in the normal range. Could it be that your body doesn't have extra stores of fat that it can use for your energy? If this is the case, then of course you will be hungry! In Pounds and Inches, Dr. Simeons says that even patients who only have 5 pounds to lose CAN do the protocol, but MUST stay on HCG P2 for the minimum 23 days... only, to compensate for the energy that your body can't get from fat (because there's little-to-none), you increase your calorie intake. 800-1000, I believe, is the range.
I hope this helps! Ohh, and here's a link to P+I, in case you don't have it!
leslieeja, I can totally relate and all I can share is that is does get better. I'm on my 7th day of the VLCD (I think that's how you say it - I'm new too!) and I can tell you the second and third day of that was brutal. But track when the worst of your hunger hits. I noticed that it hit the second day of VLCD at night (like 8 pm), and I felt like I was dying. The only way I got through it was to keep saying, "you are losing a pound right now!" and I went to bed early. The next day, the bad hunger hit right before dinner, the next right before lunch (or around 10:30-11), so it kept moving back. By the next day, although I was still hungry, it wasn' t like the starving hunger you're experiencing. I think it's your body adjusting and purifying and believe me, it does get better. Try to eat your fruit at 10 and 3, lunch at 12, dinner at 5, and drink lots of tea at night and you should be able to get through the day. I now feel hunger, but I've spaced out the drops and the food enough that it's bearable, and I'm actually starting to enjoy doing other things to take my mind off of it (take a bath, go for a short walk, do a project, SLEEP) and it's not that bad anymore. And you are a LOT thinner than I am (145 is my goal and I'm 5'5", currently at 160, so that tells you something!) so Miara may have a point: you just may not have as much fat to draw from.
Thanks for your response:) im taking injections. and its true i really only need to loose about 5 or so pounds. im 130 and i would like to be about 125 or a little less. Im not sure about the protein. i just measured out what the protocol says.
leslieeja, Am I reading it right? You're 5'8" and weight 130? You might not have any abnormal fat to lose - if you don't you WILL be hungry! You're really early in the game and it's very typical to have some hunger the first couple of days. Keep your dosage the same for a couple days and see how you do.
FYI, typical subq injection is 175. You haven't said how you're giving the injections - or even if they are injections...so can't really help there too much.
Thx LeighB. I am just like you, I get really hungry at night about an hour after dinner. I just down the water as much as i can stand and that seemed to help. I just bought some L-Glutamine since iv heard great things about it when it comes to cravings so we will see how that goes. I dont have much fat but trust me i do have some for my body to use;)
So you're doing subq injections (not IM)... You're trying to lose about 5 pounds, right. Okay, I'd go with the 175 dosage for a couple of days - if the hunger is gone then continue with the 500 calories until you lose the 5 pounds, THEN you'll need to continue with the injections for the remaining 23 days but up your calories to 800 or so. Keep in mind, if you don't have any abnormal fat, you're not going to lose it. Also, if you're hungry and losing weight then the fat you're losing is the good fat and it will come back (your body needs it.)
If you can't get the hunger to go away, then you need to increase your calories to save the good fat.
I was about to say the same. I would not jump straight to 200 but try 175. That's a more normal dose. BUT if the hunger continues, you need to stop because you have lost all the abnormal weight. That's a REALLY low weight for 5'8". I'm the same height but large boned so my goal is 150. My daughter is an inch shorter and very small boned and at 130 is still stick thin.
