So, I'm on R1P3D5. I was doing very well in the stabilizing department, I thought. No fluctuations after the first two days. Then yesterday I had surgery. I know I didn't eat anything off Protocol. I am almost positive this weight gain is due to the cast on my arm and the injection they gave me just before surgery to "Dry me up" so there would be no risk of aspirating on saliva or acid reflux on the operating table. I was thirsty as hell all day yesterday, so badly so that I could only eat by knocking back each bite as if it were a pill. I literally could not swallow without sipping water at the same time. I had 4 glasses of water just with lunch alone! I've never had my mouth and throat so dry! I drank like a sieve, and the output was no where near the level of what I put in me. I am still ravenously thirsty today, but not as bad as yesterday.

My inclination is to say this has got to be a water weight gain. I think I'm going to continue to be up tomorrow too, and on until the medication works its way out of my system. My question is, should I do a steak day? I'm not inclined to. If this is water weight, it'll resolve on its own, right? Yesterday I had a huge veggie salad with diced chicken breast and a little cheese for lunch and a squash and zucchini casserole with a little egg and cheese. I've been eating eggs and cheese from day one without trouble until now. If this is water gain, I'm content to wait it out. But will waiting if it isn't screw up my stabilizing process?

Oh I'm sure it's water weight. Just eat lots of protein, get your water in and hold on. Hope you are feeling well soon!

You have a cast on your arm!!! You could actually have lost weight if it is a plaster cast. Do they still use plaster casts these days?

I don't know if it's plaster or another hard material made of gauze. There is a solid front and back on it, all wrapped in gauze and and an ace bandage around the whole thing. It's a half cast going from fingers halfway to my elbow. I suspect the front and back are plaster, unless they have a new way of making casts. I cut the last one off my other arm last month, and plaster is exactly what it looked like to my untrained eye. Thank goodness for the soft sides or I'd have never got it off!
