I'm just curious how most of you carry on your doses at work? I am a teacher and am very discreet with my hhcg, but those of you that teach will know what I'm talking about. In the classroom there are few chances to use the restroom on VLCD, and even having a snack or coffee is not appropriate between classes. I usually put in 10 hour days, constantly running through out the day. (I actually wore a pedometer to work two days in a row and averaged 4.5 miles each day.) I know that this applies to all of you that have physical jobs. How do you deal with the low blood sugar or brain fog?
If you do RX hcg you can dose at home and don't have to worry about that...I took it sublingually (under the tongue) once in the morning before work and once when I got home after dinner. I have had problems with hypoglycemia in the past but never had any problems at all with hcg. I would typically have dinner around 6 p.m and not eat again until 12:00 - 1:00 pm the next day. Maybe your dose is off, or the hhcg isn't working optimally for you?
I'm not sure how you can deal with the snacking issue if you feel you must eat in between meals...why can't you keep a thermos with water or coffee or a protein shake around? All my teachers drank beverages during class, why couldn't you be able to in between? Do you get a few minutes for a lunch breaK?
I give myself doses at noon, in an interview room that has a lock on it (I work for a law enforcement agency). I guess I'm lucky. The problem with my job is that I am not running around a bunch (in fact, I HATE how sedentary my job is), BUT, I am literally tied to my desk (by the phone). My desk ALWAYS has to have someone covering it, at all times, during business hours. I can only get up & leave (bathroom, etc), when the other lady in the lobby is at her desk & available for me to transfer my calls to. I just made sure the other lady understood that I am drinking a lot of fluid & will have to use the restroom more often. I bring my food items & water & a thermos with hot water, for making tea, to work with me & set them under my desk. I only eat during lunch & eat my apple on the drive home, so finding time to eat is not a problem. And, as far as the beverages, I just take a sip here & sip there, as I'm able. I've never had the problem of getting my fluids in.
I don't know how to advise you, other than to tell you to get used to eating only when it's convenient (maybe meal at lunch & snack during your teacher conference hour). Just keep a bottle of water sitting on your desk & take a sip periodically, as you're able. As far as the restroom...I don't know what to suggest there.
I am a teacher also and struggle to get my midday hhcg dose. I take my midday dose during my planning period which is earlier in the morning (9:50 a.m.) because if I don't eat lunch and then I struggle throughout the rest of the day. Do you have a planning period that you can take it on? I have also gotten to the point with students that if I have to take it and they need me, I leave a note on the board of when I will be able to talk again since I have to hold it under my tongue. The kids are really understanding about it. I also drink a ton of water which helps the hunger feeling.
hi furrysox, I'm a teacher, and I made sure I did my first round during my summer month off, I know what you mean about brain fog and bathroom breaks, so I just couldnt risk it. plus, the last month before summer break, and some time before that, I was just eating junk and carbs to get through the day, which was a very bad habit and I was just mentally conditioned to eat at work, and caused me to have to do the hcg diet in the first place! but now that I have the experience behind me, if I ever decided to do another round in the future, I'd know what to do at work, i'd just pace myself. but the bathroom situation could be tricky.
I used this month off, to get off the addiction of eating the bad stuff and passing through the fast food drive thrus, and eating junk after work, etc. it worked, a lifesaver! now I am in P3 and going back to work next week! I should go in today to prep, but I am a bit lazy and concerned about that!
stscoop- I do have 20 minutes at lunch, but duty most days and a restroom break, so that is limited even more. I'm doing just fine on hhcg now, I'm just concerned how I'm going to continue in a few weeks. I did R1 the last 2 months of school (very difficult!), P3 during summer school, and now I have a two week break before I go back. I have also had hypoglycemia issues in the past, but not so much now that I've lost 40 lbs on hhcg. The protein shake is a great idea! I haven't tried those. Which would you recommend? As long I keep it in my metal water bottles, I think I will be fine. Our staff can't have coffee, soda or any drinks (only water) in front of the students, as they are only able to drink water in the classroom. So I really try to drink the rest of my water when I get home. Eating VLCD is so hard at work, I usually up my protein, but when I come home I am exhausted. Chere
I am so glad you understand my issues...teachers are notorious for having bladder problems, and after having taught for 2O years I don't want to be on that list ! Maybe that's why my high school teachers were so grumpy! Planning periods come and go, especially in the secondary field, as you know! Most days my students make up labs during this time. I wish I had an aide in my classroom, that would make ducking out to the restroom so much easier!
Chere, many people use the Jay Robb protein shakes on P2 and lose just fine. They are very low in carbs and sweetened with stevia. In fact, there is an entire thread on this site titled "better losses with Jay Robb shakes" or something like that. After reading hundreds of posts about it, it seems to be a "safe" protein alternative for meals. If you use it in between meals to keep you going, you might want to cut out a fruit serving that day or the melba/grissini servings to keep the calories close to 500 for the day as a whole. I felt MUCH better with the extra shake energy-wise, and was up to 550 - 600 calories on days I had the shakes..but I was also working out so I burned off the extra calories.
