It's not the injections that are the problem...I donate blood regularly...I give sub-q shots without ANY issues...I have had a central line sutured (yes...SOWN) to my neck to access my carotid artery...heck, I used to let a paramedic student I work with "practice poke" me, to find a vein for an IV. Shots don't bother me.
It's the locations I would be using. I just can't see relaxing enough to keep from giving myself perpetual sore muscles. I'm not completely ruling out the possibility of doing IM, on future rounds, but it will take a lot of convincing to get me out of my comfort zone with sub-q.
Oh, btw...FINALLY, Colleen, I am getting to the last few chapters of "Abomination" (people won't leave me alone & let me READ!!!! LOL). Absolutely riveting! Definitely a re-read. Excellent, absolutely excellent.
I didn't have any trouble giving the IM shots. I just had trouble finding the right location. :-( But the arm seems good so far. I have felt spectacularly good today!
oohhh...so wish I could get brave for my next round. I did Byetta shots onmyself with a pen injector and that was easy. Any one have any experience with that? To compare with?
This will be my 4th round and I am ready to feel better on vlcd's.
Yep colleen. I felt great the whole round on my second one using the arm. I definitely felt better than when I used the thigh, and I thought I felt good then....LOL
What makes the IM shot better than the other shots? I did the 'fat' shots, lol, for my first round and I'm done as of tomorrow with them, and I'm already trying to plan for my next round. If the IM shots are more effective, then I want to do those. My hubby can give them to me, he's experienced at giving shots. lol
Well this might help or not. My sister is a nurse and we were discussing giving yourself a shot in the arm. Well she told me one way to do that to help stablize your arm is to stand with your arm(back of it) against a door jam or wall, this gives some stablization to the arm and it won't giggle or move when you give yourself the shot. Just a thought.
