You only do a steak day if you are more than 2 pounds over your LIW, so no... a steak day is not necessary at this point. You're probably suffering from TOM... think back to priors and your experience then. TOM doesn't make you gain weight (fat), only retain water, so unless you're eating the wrong foods in huge amounts, you're retaining water and it will come back off when over. If it makes you crazy, do things like adding lemon slices to your water, eat less salt, eat foods that are naturally diuretic like asparagus.
My LIW was 144.4, now I am 146.8, so I am over. I am going to do another protein day again I guess and see if it will help tomorrow or not. Just bugs that I gained on a high protein day and didn't lose. I never salt anything, not even meat or eggs. I have only tried asparagus once and it made me gag, can you tell me some good ways to make it?
Sorry, I must have misread your previous post; I thought you were only up .2 over LIW. So technically you should do a steak day. However, I still think that if it's just water weight due to TOM, it's unnecessary...again, just my opinion and others may disagree.
I like to oven roast my asparagus then sprinkle with salt. You can also steam it or stir-fry it. Also diuretic are onions, tomatoes, parsley, garlic, cucumbers and celery. Leafy greens are also diuretic foods, so a big salad with lemon juice would be good. Dandelion tea and green tea, too. Although I think dandelion tea tastes like dirt! LOL.
Thanks for the ideas, I love tomatoes and cucumbers and salad, so maybe today with the high protein I will eat those too. I had alot of dandelion leaves in Italy, along with what looked like more weeds for their salad and it was pretty nasty. But love my green tea. Thanks
Most of the time if a steak day doesn't work all that well, it's because of something else, like TOM. Be patient. Just eat clean, lots of protein, no fruits and easy on the veggies and it'll come back down.
I think Superchick is correct... seems like I read something recently saying steak days don't work for water retention. I wish I could remember more detail from the post so I could do a search.
