    I read the article that Colleen put up about the 250 iu's for drops and extra weight loss. I was wondering do you think this would work if I am doing shots but not IM shots.

    250iu's via injection is too high...you'll most likely be hungry!

    Ahhh! Where is the article? My Dr. has me taking 250 i.u. injections in my stomach. I have been so confused about it! So frustrated. Everyon keeps telling me to cut way back to 175. I am on VLCD 1 - I did 250 on loading days and today did 175. I was hungry and had a headach but I wasn't dying. I am still terribly confused though just because I feel like I am disobeying Dr's orders I guess. But please let me know where that article is. Thanks!

    Josephine, that study was done with sublingual hcg only. More of it is needed than when injecting because of different absorption rates. It does not apply to you.

    The normal dose for subq injections, which is what you're doing, is 150iu to 200 iu. Most people start with 175iu, and then adjust if necessary.
    When the new liquid Hucog or Corion is used, a lot of people end up using 150iu, although I needed 200iu on Hucog.

    It's common to be somewhat hungry the first few days, but if it continues, you need to adjust your dose again. Headaches are common the first few days, too.
    Some say it's from detoxing. It will go away, don't worry.

    One thing you'll learn on this forum, is that a lot of doctors don't follow Dr. Simeons' protocol. They like to make their own versions of the diet. Then their patients come to this forum when they're not losing weight or have some other problem. I'm not sure why your doc thinks 250iu is the correct dose. Dr. Simeons used 125iu for IM injections in his patients. That's usually what we see doctors erroneously giving their patients for subq doses now. Of course, that is too low for subq.

    desertgirl I can't thank you enough! I am stressing about this whole thing because I just don't want to mess it up. I paid my Dr. $200 for the vial. It says Novarel on it and 10,000 USP. ( He also charges me $167 for the Dr. visit ) He said he wants me to come back in a week to see how I am doing. That will be another 167$ so I really don't want to go to him if I have to again especially if he is giving me the wrong advice.

    I will try the 175 I.U.'s for a while and see how it goes. I am dedicated to this and have been struggling for so long to loose weight that I pray this works.

    Here are a few other inconsistencies he told me: ( Please PLEASE let me know your thoughts)

    He said I can eat up to 1200 calories ( I will stay with P & I protocol at 500 calories)
    That I should inject just before bed ( I have heard other wise on this forum and if I loose my appetitie after injecting wouldn't I want to inject in the morning same time every day?)
    He also said to do itnject for 20 days. Well we all know it's 23 injections or 40 injections. I would prefer 40 injections because I am have more than 40 lbs to loose.

    So one more question. If I have 10,000 USP in this vial. Does that give me enough for 40 injections and will it go bad if I have it refridgerated for 40 days? ( I remember reaing it goes bad in 30 days)

    Your doctor doesn't know s***. If you were eating 1200 calories a day, I don't even think you'd lose. Another way to keep getting more money from you.

    I think most do their injections in the morning.

    No, your 10,000 USP vial will go bad way before your 40 injections are done. I don't think it will last much past 3 or 4weeks.

    Josephine, I lost 70 lb and reached my goal weight in May, so I know this works, and it will work for you!
    You definitely cannot eat 1200 calories on this diet and lose weight! Good for you for sticking with 500.

    You can inject any time of the day you want, as long as it's about the same time each day. Most people do it in the morning. Some people like to do it in the evening, because that's when they start getting a little hungry.

    The problem with such a large vial is that when mixed, hcg loses potency over time. You can probably get the 23 days out of it, although you may have to up the dosage towards the end. It's usually best to use 2000iu vials so you can mix fresh batches every 10-12 days. You can buy additional hcg to complete a 43 day round from Doyle, who is a member of this forum.     The most common brand of hcg used by people on this forum is Hucog.

    Ugh! Thanks NuttyBlonde. So that means I just threw some $ down the drain. How frustrating! :( He shouldn't have mixed the whole vial then!
