Hello, my name is Averytx R1P2VLCD21 and I am a wateraholic.

Kidding...kind of. I went out of town with friends and we hung out under a covered patio in really hot weather yesterday literally off and on all day--about 12 hours. They were all drinking and eating all day, so of course, I took my prepared foods and my water to tide myself over. It was over 100 degrees outside, so I was drinking extra water intentionally. However, I ended up drinking SEVEN liters of water yesterday total. I know it is bad to drink too much water, but it was so hot and normally I have to make a point to drink 3 liters, so I just went with how I felt.

Move forward to this morning: I weighed the exact same as I did yesterday which was a relief because I did eat a little extra fruit during the afternoon (an extra strawberry). BUT, my ankles were TOTALLY swollen. Even at my heaviest I have skinny, boney ankles, so I was shocked to see that. They look the exact same now although I did run and get a water pill and then some magnesium and potassium to start taking, so I'm hopeful they will go down by tomorrow.

Can someone give me some insight as to why I would retain that much water? I know I drank it excessively, but why didn't I just urinate more? My TOM is very near, but it seems odd to me that my body would want to RETAIN that much water. Interested to hear some theories/facts from those of you who know more than I do about this stuff!

Maybe the high temps were telling your body to conserve every drop of water! Did you eat anything salty?

BTW, lemon juice is a natural diuretic, so you could squeeze the juice of one into some water.

That's a lot of water.... good thing you have some mag/potassium to help. As desertgirl stated, heat can make you retain water... but it's probably more likely that your body just couldnt process that much water in a short amount of time. Hang in there...and you might want to buy some extra toilet paper - make sure it's soft! *grins*

I deal with lymphodema on my left side (leg mainly) from time to time...and its no fun to walk around feeling the water moving in your feet (eww!)

Thanks for the feedback! They don't really look any better this morning. I'll just keep going with the magnesium and potassium and hopefully it will eventually help.
