OMG! just got some of this Sweetleaf Sweetener to put on strawberries....gonna have to rub some dog poo in my mouth to get the flavor out. That is hideous in nature. I have Stevia in the leaf form that I use to brew tea, and granted the taste is not normal( to us from the sugar generation) it's very livable. This Sugar like Stevia from sweetleaf is horrible, well at least the shock was horrible. I really would like to fine something that can fin'd off the sugar desires.. not a craving just a desire. I guess Splenda is a no no..
Fizzy -- It isn't good unless it is dissolved. When I want to sweeten strawberries, I use the allowed 2 T milk, mix one packet of SweetLeaf, mix it up really well, and then add the strawberries. If even a little bit of it isn't dissolved it gives that bitter flavor. :) Good luck!!
OK .. I'll try, but a little trepidation from my first experience...My glands are still convulsing..... Love the Strawberries and whipped cream. I know, no whipped cream until P3. Come on P3 only 10 days away....
In my opinion, there's nothing good about stevia except that it's pretty much the ONLY thing you can have in coffee in P2. I don't like it, don't want it and haven't looked at it at all in P3. However, it's on my shopping list to get for R2 that starts this weekend. :( Bitter, bitter, bitter.
I really actually prefer stevia from NuNaturals that I get at Fred Meyers to any other sweetener I have tried including sugar. It has no bitter aftertaste at all. It doesn't take much to make something sweet, and they make a baking blend, though I haven't tried it.
I know when we were in Chem class in college, we tried to taste certain strips of flavoring. The test had some people that tasted an ugly bitterness, and others only sweetness. Apparently those same people who tasted bitter, didn't care for diet sodas, or things flavored with artificial sweeteners. There is some genetic component related to the taste buds for certain chemical compounds, so I can't say that everyone would feel like I do. Some may just taste the nasty bitter flavor that others do not.
If you come across this though, give it a try, I hear its the best from those who have tried it.
