On the loading days for round 2 just like the loading days I did just before beginning? Or should I stay within the p3 guidelines? Sugar and starches would be SOOOo great to have as I load (1 last chance for those great tasting things!) but I do not want to blow up like a balloon. On my loading days when on r1, I gained about 4 pounds. I do not want to gain like 10 when I eat those things when I haven't been eating starches or sugars for 6 weeks. I did Hcg about 3 years ago (and didn't follow p3 very well) so I know that starches and sugars are not my friend after not eating them (and after doctor after doctor told me they are a no-no)...I'm committed this time to realize my body is different than my friends who eat whatever and still stay slim!!

Pls add more info. You are talking about loading for another P2 and you're still on P3???? Everything I have read, you need to go thru P4 a minimum of three weeks to start round 2. I think some do OK skipping P4, but most have a much harder time maintaining their losses if they skip P4. I am still on P2....just saying what I've been reading on here....

I have done P3 back to P2 and yes I indulged in sugar and starch on load days. This last load I tried not to go overboard with them and kept it to cheesecake and some chocolate cake, a few chips with salsa and breakfast sausages, which I'm sure had sugar in them. I didn't eat too much bread either, we had pizza but I mainly ate the toppings. It was the best load I have done so far and I am doing good on this round. If there is something you have been dying to have, do it now on load!! :-)

Never ever add starches or sugars if you are going right back onto P3.

    1. You are adding things to your diet that you haven't eaten in at least 6 weeks.
    2. It defeats the purpose of cycling (which is what you are doing)
    3. If you do decide to load with sugars and starches you need to do 3 weeks of P4 to see how your body responds.
    4. You will be extremely ill, bloated and just plain sick if you do.

If you feel the need to load (which normally you would only do if you've done 2 weeks or more of P3) you load with P3 foods only. You can eat as much as you want but they should be P3 foods only.

Ok thanks everyone!! It is true that I shouldn't all of a sudden overload on starches after at least 12 weeks without them (counting the hcg and the stabilization period). I was worried that if I didn't eat starches and sugars and all those rich things then I would be STARVING on hcg again. I'm going to load then on mostly acceptable food then. Nancygp, I haven't heard about staying on p4 for 3 weeks before beginning another round of p2. . . .Simeon said that you just have to wait 6 weeks, eating no starches or sugars. . .I also have Trudeau's book. Do I need to study some more stuff?!

Hi I am new here and was wondering if this HCG diet is fine for someone looking to lose aprox. 7 -10 lbs?
  6.  # 7permalink
Yes it is fine for anyone looking to lose weight. You need to commit to 23 days on protocol then 3 weeks of P3 and 3 weeks of P4, (which in essence is the rest of your life), but adding those foods slowly. But if you are already close to your ideal weight it may be difficult or extremely slow to lose but it is not totally impossible.

Oh and doing starches/sugars, etc on load day after 3 weeks of P3, is essentially already P4 for 2 days so I personally don't see a big problem with it as long as you are not going overboard but getting in a few things you have been missing and will miss again. I have done it too without any problems or being ill and bloated.

contessa, my understanding from P&I is the first round goes from P2, then the 3 addl days of VLCD, then P3 for three weeks, then P4 for three weeks. That's a total of six weeks between P2 and starting P2 for a second round - for the first round. After each round, the break time increases before starting a new round. Just giving you my understanding.

    Two sections from P&I:

    Plan of a Normal Course

500 Calorie diet to be continued until 72 hours after the last injection.

For the following 3 weeks, all foods allowed except starch and sugar in any form (careful with very sweet fruit).

After 3 weeks, very gradually add starch in small quantities, always controlled by morning weighing.

    Further Courses

Patients requiring the loss of more than 34 lbs. must have a second or even more courses. A second course can be started after an interval of not less than six weeks, though the pause can be more than six weeks. When a third, fourth or even fifth course is necessary, the interval between courses should be made progressively longer. Between a second and third course eight weeks should elapse, between a third and fourth course twelve weeks, between a fourth and fifth course twenty weeks and between a fifth and sixth course six months. In this way it is possible to bring about a weight reduction of 100 lbs. and more if required without the least hardship to the patient.

In general, men do slightly better than women and often reach a somewhat higher average daily loss. Very advanced cases do a little better than early ones, but it is a remarkable fact that this difference is only just statistically significant.
