Oh that might be, honey! That and the BM issue. Get that working and you'll probably drop a couple of pounds.

Totally left field question, but you're a writer as well? I'm an "aspiring" novelist. What types of things do you write?

Oh good for you, xan! I write romantic mysteries in the Christian market. www.colleencoble.com. What are you working on? Are you part of any writing organizations? They are very helpful!

That is awesome!! I'm going to have to be nosy and check out your website. :) Right now I'm actually working on a follow-up to my novel "Fallen." I used to belong to the Northwest Chapter of the Romance Writers of America but realized I was never that great at writing strictly romance. LOL... My novels are more historical suspense/drama, with elements of romance to them, of course. You can't have a good story without a good love! ;)

I went to a RWA conference back in 1997 and met several romance writers in the area, including Catherine Coulter and Debbie Macomber. It's so great to meet you!! ;) How long have you been writing and how many novels do you have published? I'm still going through the frustrating process of querying agents/publishers to get a nibble on the novel.

My books have both mystery/suspense and romance. Love the blend! I'm just finishing a historical series with that same blend. The first one, The Lightkeeper's Daughter, came out in January. Two more are in the chute to release. I have nearly 40 out. I've lost track. I need to go back and look. Debbie Macomber was our keynote speaker at the American Christian Fiction Writers conference last year. she was fabulous! I'm CEO of that organization and it's just a terrific place to learn craft and network with publishers and editors in the market. My agent is Karen Solem. Love her!

I read a bit of your bio on your website. You are my new hero. :) To overcome what you have and made it into something life-altering is phenomenal. Plus you are living my dream!! Wake up in the morning and write ALL DAY LONG!!! And get paid to do it! Ah, the simple pleasures! ;)

I absolutely love the historical drama. You may not like my novel Fallen though as it's more of a tragedy than a happy ending. :) And it took you about 7 years to publish your first novel? How did you approach and attack that? Did you first look for an agent and send out queries?

Life is too short: MUCH too short to not do what you love and what makes you happy. For a while I was merely satisfied with telling the story that I felt needed to be told; but now I would love to be able to share my story with whoever would like to hear it. If you really think about it, being a writer is such an incredible thing. Once you garner an audience of readers, you have the opportunity to connect with complete strangers on a deeper level than anyone else.

It was hard! I didn't even KNOW another writer back then. But there are challenges too. It's not writing in your pajamas all day long. Even on vacation, my editor needs back cover copy approved, last questions about this or that, a brief synopsis for the next book. I don't believe I've ever gone on vacation without have to do something with work. LOL And the deadlines mean that if you get sick or whatever, you push through.

My biggest piece of advice is to go to some conferences where you can learn and network with publishing professionals. I'm way excited that the ACFW conference will have Michael Hauge there (last year we had Donald Maass) and the last time I heard him speak he was leaving us and going to Will Smith's house. He's an advisor to all the stars and the stuff I learned from him the first time was the single best teaching I've ever heard! Get his video The hero's Two Journeys. Fabulous!
