Hi everyone, I am new here, been on the hCG diet about a week and some days now.
I'd like to inquire about fasting, and whether a 3 or so day water fast would be beneficial, damaging, etc. while on the hCG drops. been doing pretty well, with about 10 pounds down in 8 or 9 days after starting the VLCD. Also, Dr. Simeons protocol seems to allow less than 500 calories, however, encouraging, even stressing the 200 grams per day of protein. I wonder which is which, and whether or not one can altogether quit eating for meals at once.
I think it's a valid question. I often fast for spiritual reasons, & it's good to know. I haven't attempted to fast, while on this round, but if it should happen to be important to do so, it'd be good to know what the "consequences" are. Manoman, I would never attempt an extended fast, while on p2, but I don't think a one day fast would kill you. I wouldn't attempt to do it, though, for weight-loss purposes, because you're likely to shoot yourself in the foot, metaphorically, and not accomplish anything positive in the process.
I personally wouldn't recommend it. More because many have problems with their electrolytes with cramping and tiredness.
With that said I have done a liquid fast on P2 and had no problems with it. However it included items that were not permited on protocol. I still lost the same, didn't change anything other than getting a bunch of junk out of my system.
Because of the nutrients that are in our fat cells I wouldn't be surprised if you had a successful time with it. Just remember that too much water is just as bad as not enough :)
usually when fasting by day two you are no longer hungry anyway... but while under the influence of HCG if you eat to little, you stall.. so I think It would be antiproductive to Fast.. But it is an interesting question.. Hmmmm?
Indeed...Like I said, the ONLY reason I would do a fast, while I was on p2, would be for religious/spiritual reasons. It's not the time to do it for cleansing (besides, the diet is cleansing enough), nor is it appropriate to do for further weight loss, because it'd backfire on you. BUT, if someone said they needed to do it for spiritual reasons (I know we have some Jewish protocollers on here, & I'm thinking about the upcoming Holy Days), I'd try to find a way to accomodate them. There are some things in this world more important than our physical bodies. I suppose if you were content to live with the stall it might produce, it'd be worth it, for a day or two. It all boils down to what your motives are for doing it.
