Tomorrow I start loading and take the first step on the million mile journey I have ahead of me. One concern I have is the daily weighing. Although I have my mind made up to make this work I know from past dieting experience that a slight set back and slow progress can send me into a binge. I am thinking I will just weigh weekly. Does anyone else do this? Is there an important reason to weigh daily in P2? I can see the importance of it in P3 and P4 though and since the goal then is maintaining I don't think that will pose a problem for me. I apprieciate any thoughts you can share with me on this.

Good luck on your journey Holly!! You will DO this! One good thing about the hCG diet is that you see the scale going down (most always). That is REALLY motivating. It's almost like depositing your check in the bank and watching it grow (although in this case, you're watching the scale go down!). It's like pay day. If you have a stall, there's usually a reason. That's why it's important to weigh every day; if there's a stall you need to do a little fiddling with things (certain veggies or proteins might make you gain). For instance, shrimp was a staller for me. Once I put two and two together after stalling on shrimp (or actually only having a .2 loss), then I got a clue and stopped shrimp in P2. Tomatoes didn't do me good either. So those kinds of things might be happening, and so it's good to weigh and tink around with your stuff.

I have a friend who is on the hCG diet now, and NEVER weighs. Didn't even own a scale. Just did not want to face the music. She's been doing it for over a week now and LOVES to weigh every morning, cuz she sees the numbers going down.

If you only weigh once a week, you may not be aware of the various factors that are influencing your loss, or your stall.

Good luck to you with whatever you decide!

Weighing is more important in P3 and 4, as you say. There have been some other people in P2 who did not weigh every day, and they were fine with it. So it's not necessary.

When I was on Releana, I frequently had stalls of 2, 3, 4, or 5 days and then a drop of 1 to 3 pounds. What helped me was keeping a little calendar by the scale, and writing my weight down everyday. During those stalls, I could look back at the previous week, and see that I actually had lost quite a bit since then. That kept me from getting discouraged.

Find a group thread for people starting P2 this weekend. Make it your "home group". Check in often, and use them to keep you from going off track. The support of this forum really helps.

Another important reason to weight every day is because you will be learning what you need to maintain your weight when you are done. Dr. Simeon was very strict about insisting that former patient's always way themselves daily as follows:

"As a general rule one can say that 60%-70% of our cases experience little or no difficulty in holding their weight
permanently. Relapses may be due to negligence in the basic rule of daily weighing. Many patients think that this is
unnecessary and that they can judge any increase from the fit of their clothes. Some do not carry their scale with
them on a journey as it is cumbersome and takes a big bite out of their luggage-allowance when flying. This is a
disastrous mistake, because after a course of HCG as much as 10 lbs. can be regained without any noticeable change
in the fit of the clothes. The reason for this is that after treatment newly acquired fat is at first evenly distributed and
does not show the former preference for certain parts of the body."

Hi Holly. I started my 'first round' on August 1st and am down about twelve pounds so far. I don't weigh every day for the same reason you mentioned, but also because my scale doesn't show parts of pounds. I stumbled upon this forum about three days ago and so far, it has been greatly encouraging. Good Luck!

Thank you for the responses..I am thinking maybe I will weigh weekly in p2 unless there is a big stall..otherwise i would think I should see a good loss weekly which will be more motivating for me and if I start having trouble then I will weigh daily to figure it out.

if you stick strictly to protocol foods, you'll be fine. i have a friend who didn't have a scale and came over here once a week to weigh- she even weighed in the evening. some people like to weigh every day in case they don't lose with certain foods, but even those blips are generally due to water retention and don't change your bottom line in terms of the total pounds lost per round.

for those who go rogue and change up the protocol, it's important to watch how those changes affect your weight. but if you stick closely to the protocol you're going to lose what you're going to lose- whether you watch the progress or not. :)
