Shuly, I ate oranges on my first P2 and didn't seem to have a problem with them. When I eat strawberries, I gain if I eat them often. I eat pink grapefruit almost exclusively for my fruit for breakfast and have better losses when I do. I eat a whole one about the size of a softball.

Thanks J, always so interesting to hear what works for people. I think I'll hold off on oranges this time, at least until they're back in season:), even though my data is completely inconclusive...but I want the most I can !! LOL I only had strawberries a few times and they seemed fine as well. I also couldn't really tell the difference from when I had 1/2 grapefruit and the couple of times I had a whole one..food for thought :).

Hi, I'm new. This is the best site/forum I've found. It's extremely satisfying to find a site where I believe everyone is helpful and completely honest. I'm on R1 (a 40 day round), P2, VLCD 23. I've lost 16.5 lbs, but I did an apple day yesterday since I was only losing .4, .2, etc. for days and had remained the same weight for 3. Lost 2.2 lbs and was re-energized. My son and his girlfriend (of course both much, much younger) are doing protocol and have each lost over 20 lbs in 10 days. A bit disconcerting for me, since I really wanted to be 30 lbs down by the end of this first round. I have not done skip days because the seminar nor the doctor said it necessary. I am going to do 3 weeks P3 and 3 weeks P4 before starting my R2. I am wondering if I should start a skip day.

But to the point. Oranges. I've been using them sporatically. Thinking about it, my weight loss was always on the lowest end when I ate one. Never even thought that orange could have been a culprit! I always do an apple and my lemon, but mostly, I don't do a second fruit. Only couple times a week. I can't eat grapefruit which I love due to the interaction with the synthroid. It renders synthroid ineffective, per my doc's from years of taking it. Also, calcium can't be taken within 2 hours of taking your synthroid which I just found out last time I had it refilled by the pharmacist. I am so looking forward to P3 for a piece of cheddar cheese or maybe, some half & half in my coffee! :)

It's interesting about the oranges. I am dropping them completely and will stick to apples and strawberries, when I want a second fruit.

Anyway, sorry so long. So nice to "meet" you all! Love this forum!!!!

    Judy

shuly, you may remember me. I had not much luck in my first round on Celeste's drops (ended at down 9 lbs. in 40 days) and getting quite anxious to start my second round - next Thursday, Sep 23!

I ate a few apples, but mostly strawberries and grapefruit. I never had an orange! So they definitely did not affect me! Like you, I always want to eat the entire grapefruit...but thinking of how much more I might lose eating only one-half, that's what I did. Think I will see how I do on second round before I venture into eating the entire thing. Lots of days, I only ate one fruit - never had a melba or grissini either. Some days I skipped fruit entirely. Think I will do better at that this time. Since I have the elimination problem, I need all the fiber and help I can get!

When are you starting up again? Trying to recall where you ended - was it 20 lbs?

forgot to mention, I ordered REAL hcg for sublingual from Fran's site for this round. Don't know why, but think I am going to do better on that. Guess cuz I didn't do so well the other time. Though did figure out using organic broth for ground beef/cabbage soup was not a good thing - it has either sugar or some starch in it. That was before I knew to read "ingredients" more than "nutrition info." I also read in another hcg book that if you are using stevia, you should be using only LIQUID! I was using powdered in some things and liquid in some - so I know some things I will be doing differently this time!

Hi nancy, of course I remember you!! we're just over on the other boards now...come join us!! i was down 18.8, stabilized fairly well, just went 11 days on P4.

I hope this round "hits" for you...I bet it will!

I started already, today, Sat was VLCD6...not really going too well yet. I've been the same wt. for the last 3 days, still 1.8lbs over LDW...very strange....I followed really carefully too, no sweetener, no melba (I never do), only 1 fruit, weighed my protein. I don't mix veggies... I did have some stress and not much sleep...can't think of anything else it could be.

I drank WAY more today, so I'm hoping tomorrow is the beginning of the magic.

It's funny, cause I wanted to go to"oh just have a bad bottle". but my husband and i are using the same bottle and he dropped another 1.6lbs today alone. So that's not it.
