    Hi everyone,
I just started R2P2 yesterday. I've already lost 25 lbs on a 40 day round. I have a question about taking amino acids with hhcg. Those of you familiar with the book "The Mood Cure" know that the author recommends the amino acid tryptophan for depression. I stopped taking Wellbutrin for depression last fall and switched to tryptophan and it worked wonders. Then I stopped taking my tryptophan in May because I started hhcg and the protocol states no supplements. I followed the protocol to the letter. I really feel like I need the tryptophan again to combat some mild depression. Does anyone here have any experience taking hhcg and tryptophan supplements? What about glutamine? The Mood Cure author also recommends glutamine for sweets cravings (I'm wanting sweets so bad right now!!). I really want to get rid of 40 more lbs, but I'm scared that the tryptophan and glutamine will make me stall. Thoughts and/or experiences??

    Good luck to everyone!!

Chromium picolinate is also supposed to be a good supplement for curbing carb cravings.

I don't have any experience with tryptophan, but during my previous rounds
I took niacin, calcium, vitamin B-12, vitamin D3, potassium, and synthroid -
all ordered by my endocrinologist because I required or was deficient in them all.
My average daily loss for the first round was 0.7417 lb in 33 days (alas, I regained it all)
My average daily loss for (the second) Re-Round 1 was 0.7389 in 46 days
Both averages are at the high end for a woman.

Keep in mind that every body is different
and yours might not react the way mine did.
But, having walked the depression road myself (in the past),
taking a supplement that works for you
and POSSIBLY not losing quite as much
is most definitely worth a POSSIBLE slower/LOWER loss
than losing a lot of weight especially if I couldn't enjoy the loss VICTORY!

But that's just me. (Thus the long list of supplements/meds I take.)

girl take your amino acids. The book says no supplements, that's bull crap the only supplements you cant take is any oil based supplements like vitamin E. Ok i took all my amino acids and I take a lot, tryptophan, L-glutamine, taurine, L-tyrosine, GABA, DL-PEN, Niacin, B-12, 6, B-complex, ester C, water pill, I'm on R1VLCD30 and I'm down 28lbs so the weight loos speaks for it self. I have had zero affect from my supplements.

Hmmm, I have never heard of Tryptophan being used for
depression. I battle depression a lot and used to take Adderall
and Zoloft for my issues. They worked great but I didn't want
to continue taking the meds and I took myself off of them.

How much do you take? Do you find one brand to be better
    than another?

i also take a lot of amino acids without a problem. and i don't think it's written that you can't take supplements, but just that they're not necessary. however i disagree, given the poor quality of our food and soil these days. i've never known of anyone losing less because they took any kind of supplement, as long as it wasn't oil based.

caressa- it would be worth reading "the mood cure", because different people are deficient in different things. so if you take something you're not deficient in, it won't help. probably the 2 most common supplements for depression are 5-htp and st. john's wort.
